I hummed in response, eyes still on the moonlit ocean.
“I noticed… your eyes. When you shifted, they weren’t gold. They were red.”
I smiled faintly. His curiosity was endless, and I loved that about him.
“The eyes of a wolf,” I said quietly, “they're the gateway to the soul. They tell a story—our bloodline, our rank, our strength.”
He was quiet, listening, fingers still making lazy loops on my chest.
“My red eyes mark my position. Alpha. Leader of Woodland. It’s how others recognise me, even in wolf form. When I’m human, they stay gold because I’m still in control—my wolf doesn’t fully take the reins unless I shift.”
