I asked, frowning and leaning closer. “That,” Aaron said proudly, “is a Rube Goldberg machine. I am a three-time world champion at building machines that do simple things in the most complicated way possible.” He handed me a marble. “Put this in the pinwheel.” I did. The pinwheel spun, which blew on a balloon. The balloon tipped a bucket. The bucket dropped something that hit a ramp. That set off another ramp that hit a pulley. On and on it went—each part setting off the next.

They were gear teeth hidden in the concrete. "It’s a dial," Damian realized. "The entire press is a combination lock." I reached for the massive flywheel. It was cold, the iron biting into my palms. I didn't need a code; I needed a rhythm. I turned it three rotations to the left the "Vance" turn. Then, I stepped back and let Damian take the handle. "Now you," I whispered. "The Thorne turn. Four rotations to the right. The partner’s weight."

A gust of wind swept past. I looked into Evelyn's eyes and said slowly, "Alright, I'll wait for you… in the next life." The wind was too loud for her to catch my last words. She thought I meant I'd wait for her to come back. Satisfied, she smiled and got into the car without a second thought. The race began. Evelyn's car shot ahead, tearing down the track. Everyone held their breath as they trained their gazes on the live feed on the big screen. On the final lap, Evelyn's car suddenly went out of control at the sharpest turn. Instead of slowing down, it sped up and smashed straight through the guardrail.

Then Liam set his beer down and clapped his big hands once. “Alright, enough fucking around. Time for The Temptation Trials. Spinner in the middle, three decks—Icebreaker, Touch & Tease, No Limits. Starts light, gets nasty. You in, Ethan?” I nodded, my throat dry. “Yeah.” We sat in a loose circle, me right on Liam’s left like he’d made sure of it. The first few spins were Round 1, Icebreaker stuff, light but already pushing. Spinner landed on Ryan first. He drew and read out loud, grinning.

Sometimes I feel like I might be the only one that still thinks about our pack, about what happened to them, and who wants to get revenge for them. Not like I've shared my plans with them I just haven't heard any talk of it. I suppose everyone has their methods of moving on. And mine is this. Now, back to the death trap in front of me, sorry, obstacle course. I shake my head as I take in the slowly spinning circle, at least it's made of wood and not metal, but it does look like it’ll hurt if someone like… runs into it but not enough to cause any real damage. Before that are three huge levers swinging back and forth at an uneven pace with only a beam of wood underneath it, is that what they i

I felt a new wave of power course through my body and I could feel all the vibrations of the sextuplet Alphas. “This is our birthday gift to you, Zara,” Aunt Aira said while smiling. “This wheel contains our spirit energies combined together to heal you instantly if you are ever attacked with Wolfsbane. The 18 spokes represent the number of times you can survive a Wolfsbane attack,” she added. “Plus 18 represents this virgin sucker’s waiting period too,” Dy laughed and Jax flicked his forehead making Dy glare at his brother and soon enough the two were fighting again with each other clubbed with embarrassing name calling.

Dual purposes mounting and fighting against once another; aimed at Odessa in the room’s center. The elder’s hands begin to shake, the fight isn’t easy, the battle she waged is one that has no guarantees. Her bag opens by itself and an assortment of herbs she had collected begins to drift around the circle, seemingly carried by a breeze. As the dried herbs are crushed in the air, they sprinkle around the circle, binding the dark energy attached to Odessa.

There was an odd sort of groan from the other players, and the spectators who rushed over to see what was happening. I had 20,900 in winnings. But all I saw was the new girl who had arrived to spin the wheel. She had long, thick black hair- dark brown, maybe, but close to black. Her eyes were exceptional: red around the iris, and then green. I'd never seen anything like them.

I just don’t know why my parents forbid me from using it but it appears to me that it will just cause me danger so I have no reasons in using so. “Happy Birthday Crystal!” A familiar voice coming from behind me really surprised me. The voice came from Kirk Robinson, my friend at Pyronia Island where we once lived. “Thanks for coming! Who are you with? I thought you’ll not be able to come but you did! You really are amazing.” Kirk gave me a slight hug before handing me his present. He is a Spirit wizard that’s why he knows how to create potions, he can also heal wounds.

The manager said so but secretly called someone specially hired by their casino. Philip came to a spinning wheel full of holes, and a pipe was located on the top of the wheel. “How does this work?” Philip asked. The manager pressed a button, and the wheel spun faster and faster. A small ball was fired through the pipe onto the wheel. After spinning around with a loud tinkling sound, the ball finally fell into hole number 36. Philip explored the inside of the machine with his senses, but there was a large magic circle here that prevented people’s detection.
