Kara I blink my eyes back, feeling a searing pain near my chest. Agony courses through me, intensifying with each beat of my heart. Goddess, that hurt. My eyes peer open, struggling against a blinding light that engulfs my surroundings. The air is mysteriously silent, devoid of any sound or movement.

“Hilaire… help me… please…” Hilaire remained motionless, his eyes cold and unforgiving. He watched as she struggled, her body convulsing, her breath becoming ragged, her cries for help fading into silence. He saw the life draining from her eyes, the light flickering and fading, replaced by a blank, unseeing stare.

Lyra's eyes moved to him. Something happened — very briefly, barely visible, so quick I almost catalogued it as nothing. Her eyes landed on Drex and something in her expression did a thing I had never seen Lyra's expression do in nineteen years of knowing her. It went blank. Not neutral. Not composed. Blank — the specific blankness of a system encountering something it does not have an existing category for and stalling while it builds one. Drex, for his part, had gone very still. Not his professional soldier's stillness. Something different. Something that had his jaw slightly tighter than usual and his eyes fixed on Lyra with an attention that was — too much. Too immediate. “That’s two.” “Breathing. Feeling pain.” Four. Then he looks at me. Slow. Intent. “And I’m undeniably hard.” My brain blue-screens. My mouth opens. My lungs forget their job. And without permission, my eyes flick down. To look at it. And ‘it’ moves. Just … moves. Like it knows I’m looking. I combust. “Fuck.” He groans softly. “Staring is not helping.” I whip my head up, back down again, then forward, mortified. “Sorry. I just — I’ve never —” Abort mission. Shut it down.

I forced a small smile on my lips. Then I felt a stare boring through me. I looked at Alex who was the source of the stare. I stared back at him without saying anything until I could not hold his eye contact anymore. I wondered why he was always staring at me like that without saying anything. It was weird and yes I had to admit he had beautiful eyes but he was creeping me out with his dramatic blank stares.

He lumbered his way over here and also communicated with the lean man as he approached us. They both turned to face us and it was eerie how different they both looked yet how similar they were but it was the lean man that shook me more. While the other big man moves with bravado and, the other man's eyes are completely blank. Not blank in the way of shielding your emotions so people wouldn't figure you out but blank in the way that indicated that there was no emotion to shield, his gaze was so cold and lifeless it was like I was looking at a dead person. I had a feeling he was the one to watch out for. I resisted the urge to shiver as he calmly looked over us.

John is staring at me without blinking. He is staring me or should I say he is staring at my breast, like he is eating by his eyes. His stare make me feel nervous and now his drunk stare is giving me wrong vibes and it is making me crazy. His stare, I always think what he think looking at me, because John is not a good person who will think good of me. His mind is full with devilous ideas. I am driving and keep me eyes to road and said "don't look at me like that! Stop staring at me like this"

I wanted to have small talk and all with her but I noticed a stare on my body so I whipped my head to the back, I saw a man staring at me intently and glaring at me, making me look back to see if it was June he was giving the bad eye or me, but June looked so unfazed about anything so I know the death stare is for me. “June, do you by chance know the man sitting opposite you in a brown top with a shaggy beard and untrimmed hair glaring in this direction with obsidian orbs? ” I asked her and she looked down first before looking at the man, she got startled by the death stare also and whipped her head to the back to see if there was anyone at her back that the stare is directed at.

“Shall we begin?” They stare at me, with silence thick enough to cut.

If this is my end I didn't want to awe the pained look on their faces. But one thing changes my mind when I thought about it. Not that I am going to now look at their faces, No, I wasn't going to still do that but I have one person I have to stare at. I have just had to give this person one last evil stare if that is all I can do before my end. I targeted and turned up my gaze towards Grayson and Tristan.
