"Here you go, beautiful. Enjoy" "Thank you" we both murmur. I lift my glass to my mouth and gulp down half of it. As I'm placing it on the table, I notice another guy coming toward us. He's tall, has long shoulder-length hair, and the grey t-shirt he's wearing clings to his chest and arms. I discreetly kick Reagan, motioning to the guy with my eyes but when he's a few feet away from us, his eyes change. They're unfocused the way someone would be when they're talking to another person through the link. Then to my surprise, he also shakes his head, turns around, and leaves. Without talking to us. I was pretty sure he was heading our way. Why did he leave? Am I seeing things?

Holding my breath, I squeeze the trigger and everything goes blank. Blank for ME!

Then I saw him. Some guy in a gray blazer loitering near us but not really doing anything in particular. He was glancing at us every few seconds. Hovering in a weird way—too still, too deliberate. At one point, he moved closer to our booth, hands in his pockets, then fidgeted with something inside his coat. 10 seconds later, blackout. There was nothing to see for a while. And when the lights came back, some seconds passed before I stood up and eventually collapsed.

"Ms. Todd, are you looking to sell your place? I noticed you wrote that you want it sold in three days? That's so soon." "It's urgent. Please get it done as soon as possible," I said with determination. I had only regained my eyesight for a day, but my emotions were in a mess. I took a taxi home and quickly prepared all the documents I needed to bring to the research team. When I was blind, I thought about how I would not regret anything at all, giving everything up for Sean. At that moment, I found it highly absurd that I would ever think that way.

Then, without warning, the screen blinked to black for a fraction of a second long enough to feel wrong. When the image returned, the figure was closer. The time stamp was gone now. The frame trembled slightly, as if the camera or the person watching was breathing. Another blink. Closer still. Close enough to see the faint rise and fall of something that might have been breath. The static returned in short bursts, each one revealing the figure nearer, until the screen showed only darkness where its face should be. The final burst came with sound soft, deliberate, just on the edge of a whisper but the words couldn’t be understood.

His face was unreadable, calm as ever, but somehow, that just made him even more… devastating. I was staring. And I knew I was staring. But my eyes wouldn’t cooperate. They were glued to him like they had nowhere else to be. Like they didn’t care that this was technically inappropriate. Like they didn’t care that he was blind and probably had no clue— “Don’t tell me you’re staring at me,” his voice broke through the haze—low, amused, and sharp. “I know I can’t see… but it’s obvious you’re boring holes into my body.”
