Dustan raised an eyebrow, his expression tinged with confusion.
"Oh, Chloe, shall you remember the face that will be the last you see before your demise?" he sneered.
"No," I retorted. "I shall remember your face—the expression you wear in your final moments," I affirmed, a sudden surge of white light enveloping the area.
My body tingled with warmth, which soon transformed into an intense heat coursing through my every fiber. The white light erupted in a blinding flash, casting the surroundings into silence.
It took a few moments for my eyes to readjust. And when I opened them, I found myself alone. Just as at the hidden entrance, the enemies had vanished, leaving no trace behind.
