I might have believed her. My gaze dropped to her belly, which she clutched as though to hide it. She trembled, instinctively stepping back. I smiled and moved closer, my voice soft. "Don't be nervous. Plenty of women get pregnant before marriage—it's nothing to be ashamed of. If you're really expecting, just make sure the man marries you. Tell Noah to step up—see if he dares walk away." Mia's face went ghostly pale. Her lips quivered before she turned and fled down the corridor. I didn't bother watching her run. Instead, I pulled out my phone. "Get me Mia Lane's medical report."

BRYNNS POV There are thirty-seven pregnancy tests lined across the bathroom counter. Thirty-seven. I counted. Twice. Apparently, Vex’s assistant interpreted every pregnancy test they have literally. There are digital ones. Pink ones. Blue ones. Early-result ones. Cheap ones. Expensive ones. One box claims it can detect pregnancy six days before a missed period. Considering I’m apparently several weeks late, I don’t think we need that kind of technology. Kade stands in the doorway holding three boxes.

**Celeste POV** The test lay on the bathroom sink like it was mocking me. Two faint pink lines, not one. I blinked, rubbed my eyes, and checked again. As if the result might magically change if I looked long enough. But it didn’t. Two lines, sharp as blades, cutting my life into a before and after. Pregnant.

It was only a simple piece of plastic. A pregnancy test. Yet at that moment… It felt like she was holding the whole world. Her vision blurred with tears as she looked at the result again. And again. She checked it several times just to make sure she wasn't reading it wrong. Maybe she was only too excited. Maybe she was imagining things. She didn't want to get her hopes up too soon. But no. She wasn't mistaken. Two clear pink lines stared back at her. Positive. She quickly covered her mouth as tears filled her eyes. The word echoed over and over inside her mind.

Doc replies. "Did I lose it?" April asks. "Have you had any heaving bleeding?" He asks. "No." April replies. "Then no. You were never pregnant. What made you think you were?" Doc asks. "I did a home test. It was positive." She replies. "Those can give a false positive." Alex replies. "No. It was positive. I must have had a miscarriage from all the stress!" April replies. "Ok wait here. I'll be right back." Doc replies.

There's approximately three tests all line up, all the same, reliable brand: ClearBlue. I should just look and get this over with... So I take a few steps forward towards the sink and look down at them all. I'm so shocked that I just stand there in awe. All three have two solid lines across them, not a word of lie or trace of evidence it's wrong. I'm pregnant, pregnant with the fucking vampire kids baby only after being married to him for two whole months. TWO MONTHS! I thought maybe three or more years we would start, but no. TWO MONTHS AND HERE I AM A PREGNANT WHORE WHO COULDN'T KEEP HER LEGS TOGETHER!

Blake takes a deep breath, shaking her head. “I can’t tell you, but believe me, it’s all going to end soon, because of this…” she says, leaning over the bed and opening the first drawer on the table on her side of the bed. When she turns to face me, she offers me a pregnancy test with a positive sign on it. My eyes move from the test to her and I watch as she bites her nails. “What the fuck Blake,” I say, standing up and moving out of the bed. “Are you fucking shitting me?” I let out in anger. She blinks several times and her smile disappears as she watches me freak the fuck out. That’s it, baby. Believe me.
