Moonbound Hearts
---
Light poured out of Baylee.
Not like last time — wild, violent, uncontrolled.
This was focused.
Clean.
Beautiful.
The clearing filled with pale fire that hummed, not burned. The Veilshades shrieked, their warped bodies twisting in pain as their shadows peeled away from them like shedding skin. Where the light hit living earth, color returned. The frost melted. The air warmed.
“Bay!” Melody gasped. “Hold it steady!”
Baylee grit her teeth, muscles trembling. She felt Jade hammering at the inside of her skull, clawing at the bond, trying to pull that light into herself.
