Without hesitation, I answered. “What is it?” “Everything is going according to plan,” she said, her voice smooth, calculated. “The deal with the Cartel is signed, and we’ve secured the shipment. You’re free to move forward with the plans.” I nodded, keeping my eyes on Emma as I spoke. She didn’t know about the Cartel deal. She didn’t know about the millions I had poured into making sure I controlled every aspect of this empire. It was always about control. Always about power.
