“You need to rest, sweetheart. You lost a lot of blood.” I nodded faintly. “And I need to tell you something… something about the boys. About Cassian….about all of them Raven” I stiffened and nodded at her. “They’re cursed,” she said quietly. “It’s called the Blood Vane Curse. It’s been with them since their mother died. Every Blood Moon, they suffer. Their bodies burn and their thirst becomes unbearable. It’s like a death sentence every month and this is the Hundredth year they would face that and rumours have it that they might not survive it.”

I jolted awake, breath caught in my throat like a scream that never made it out. The room was dark, quiet. My heart thundered against my ribs as the phantom scent of bleach and blood clung to my senses. I couldn’t move for a moment, just stared into the shadows, waiting for his voice to come crawling out of the dark again. But it didn’t. Instead, I felt warmth at my back. A solid presence. Conner.
