But please, don’t be afraid.” She nodded. “Okay.” I looked into her eyes. “The Thane bloodline… your bloodline… was believed to be gone. Extinct. The last known family from that line was attacked, and no one survived. That happened the same year you were born.”

“Little Xena, requesting a meeting with me. A bold move. Who’s to say the Cambinos haven’t offered me a better deal already?” I smiled. Bloodline. Years ago. This had started long before me, long before Black Hollow, long before Kael. My mother had been trapped inside this nightmare first. I looked at Elder Marrow slowly. “She knew, didn’t she?” Pain crossed his face immediately. “Yes.”

Finn burst into laughter.
