Blood. Dark, thick streaks staining her thighs, soaking through the fabric, running down onto the pavement. My hands, gripping her so tightly, came away smeared crimson. “No. No, no, no, no, no…” The words poured out of me, raw and broken, a litany of denial as my chest heaved against hers. My arms wrapped around her tighter, as though I could squeeze the life back into her, anchor her body to mine so she couldn’t leave me, not like this.

Horrified, Blake blankly stares at him as blood drips from the bandage wrapped on the upper left shoulder of the boy, his blood quickly forming a pool of blood. Suddenly, the boy turns to look at him, his red, black eyes gleaming in the light. He opens his mouth and speaks dully, “Don’t forget me, if it wasn’t for me, you’d still be suffering in hell, in the dark all alone. Without me you’re nothing, we’re one, whether you want it or not.
