I thought of the world that was currently waking up to a silence it didn’t understand. But as I felt that tiny, second heartbeat pulse against my palm, I didn’t feel like a fugitive. I didn’t feel like a victim of a global conspiracy. I felt like an Architect. The first book was about the blood. It was about the betrayal and the breaking of the old world. It was about the trauma of the glass and the roar of the mountain. But the second book? The one we were starting right now, in this quiet French valley? That book was going to be about the Home.

It sloshed around until it filled to the top. Veronica removed the needle and the smell of her blood wafted up to me. I was still in my demon form! Shit! My bloodlust started to come out as my eyes instantly went to the spot where a drop of blood seeped out over her fair skin. My throat started to burn and itch as it began to crave for blood. I gulped and forced my eyes to look away. After the second vial was full, it felt like pure torture. Veronica bandaged up Arisa, stopping the bleeding but it was too late. The smell of blood filled the room.

she said confused while looking at me. "Maybe it's not working?" I said to her, questioningly. "That's impossible. I mean, I've treated many people whose wounds were deeper than yours, but they disappeared immediately," she said. "How did that happen?" I asked, confused. "I do not know. I'll just ask Grandma later, the important thing is that your blood is no longer flowing," she answered. We turned to Knox's when we heard someone shout. My eyes widened when I see the two vampires lying on the ground and slowly turning into ashes. Knox grabbed the neck of the vampire who was already up in the air and trying to get out of Knox's grip.

and I couldn’t stop him before he makes a cut on his palm with the knife. Blood began dripping from his hand while I watch with a stunned expression. Right before my eyes, he takes up his hand to the collection of books and he lets his blood drop on one in particular. I couldn’t be more stunned to see it disappear right into the book with no trace of his blood on it before he puts his hand down.

The fight and anger she had been feeling completely evaporated from her body, as the last image of her parents became permanently etched into her mind. She would forever carry the trauma of seeing their dead bodies with her. Just a few hours ago, they had been eating and laughing around their fireplace. My blurred vision was making me heave so I close my eyes and crawl in the direction I think it is. I feel the cold tile floor of the bathroom on my hands and flop forwards embracing it's coolness on my body. My throat started to burn again like she was clawing at me from the inside tearing her way up. I grit my teeth and grip onto the bath tub pulling myself up. I fall into the tub in a huge splash sending water everywhere. I drink at the blood stained water greedily trying to soothe my thirst. The cold water does little to soothe the burning like earlier and my breathing picks up as I pant through my mouth.

"I'll wake up better... Just let me sleep. I think, and I'm one step away from letting go completely, and then I feel a strong taste invade my mouth, my gaze focuses again, and I realize that I'm taking blood, I want to fight it, it's not right!
