/“I know, I just... I got excited. I wanted to see.” Her expression softens and she lets out a huff. /“I understand, but you must be cautious. Start with once a day, then gradually increase to twice. But no more than that for now.”/ I take a deep breath, absorbing her words. /“Okay, Halo. I’ll be more careful next time, I promise.”/ She nods, her image flickering. /“Try it now, but just for a moment.”/ Taking a deep breath, I focus on Halo’s eyes, allowing the world to shift into its inverted state. But just as the cabin comes into view, I see Ruin stepping out of the bathroom, a towel slung around his waist.

It is shaping up to be a busy day of work tomorrow. The exit then blinks green, and the door sinks, then begins moving to the left. Air streams into the cabin, blowing Calum's red hair into a wavy mop. The frigid blast of wind doesn't jostle Halo, but goosebumps rise on Calum's skin. Halo turns to face him, eyes, and expression a clear indication of his confidence. Calum Beauchamp: Beware of the snakes-. His lips clamp shut when Halo takes two steps back, and dives backward out of the aircraft. Air whistles around him, as he falls back, relishing the adrenaline as his perfectly arched body sails downward.

"You've been leeching off our genius for years, but he’ll always be ahead of you. You’re just a rat in the dark who can never keep up." Their arrogance burned into me. I drew in a deep breath. "It’s fine. I have another robot. I’ll use that one to compete." I was ready to shut myself away again when my phone lit up. Lila was calling. I’d told her clearly not to contact me before the championship. My eyes stayed cold on the screen. I blocked her number without hesitation and turned to Zane. "He’s not going to guess this one. There’s no way Adrian will think of an animal-model bot."

That was it. My eyes snapped opened, and I felt the power of Halo slam forward. I no longer struggled, and my eyes landed on the suprised ones of Loren. Her smile quickly faltered. I felt when my eyes turned to their golden green. From within, my aura surged outwardly, forcibly tossing Loren back, hitting a distant tree, hard. She groaned, coming to a painful stop. I made my way towards her. I was beyond angry. My entire body shook with rage.

The ceiling is smooth and even and entirely healed. The second life, fully begun.

Layla’s POV Starfall needs a decent auditorium, I think, looking around the intersection of paths that formed a makeshift “village square.” It’s a wonderfully mundane thought during an insane time. I’d received a phone call not fifteen minutes ago from Healer Javier that Benjamin was showing signs he is as coming out of his coma. His eyes are moving and his limbs twitching. Every instinct I have is screaming at me to run from this crisscross of dirt roads in Starfall to his bedside in Thornheart Memorial.

His movements looked slightly delayed, like his mind was somewhere else entirely. Then, it happened so fast. The slid slipped. The thin piece of glass hit the edge of the table awkwardly and cracked sharply against the metal stand. Aaron reacted instinctively and reached for it before it could fall completely. Wrong move. I heard the quiet hiss leave his mouth almost immediately. The broken slide hit the floor a second later as everything around us paused. “Aaron—” Chloe grabbed his wrist instantly. A thin line of blood was already running across his palm. Chairs scraped loudly against the floor all at once.

I gave the doctor a stink eye, I sure as hell was going to get back at him if he thought I didn't know that the feeling was mutual then he must be sleeping. My lips morphed into a haughty smile when it was only him looking I made sure he saw it. Allan turned to me, "So Bethany I didn't know you could be humble." "I am when beautiful people are involved." His brows furrowed in confusion, " aren't we, I mean Caleb and I beautiful enough?" "Well I can't shag my brothers now or can I?"I sighed, "Y'all look like shrek in human form anyways." He’s sinister smirk and dark eyes filled to the brim with he’s horrible twisted desires forever branded itself in my mind. I tried to slap him again but he was ready for it this time, Michael simply knocked my arm away, gripped my shoulder pulled me forward before slamming me back in to the ground, the force of the impact stole my breath and had my vision swimming with black spots. Numbness settled over me, it was all I could do to breathe, to stay awake.
