Huge clouds of fire rose up into the sky, and as she got closer, she could already feel the heat. The sight below her took her breath away. The entire city seemed to be a great ball of fire. The few survivors she could spot ran through the streets, screaming, shouting. Others lay in the streets, lifeless, looking as if they had been infected by the Plague. Caitlin could sense that a great evil had been perpetrated here, and she could sense that it had been done by Kyle and his people. She felt sick to her stomach, and more intent than ever on killing him, if she should ever find him.

Prologue II: Pyre, 3113 Pyre Av 5, 3113 Stephan Caliphus, King Everything was on fire the night he finished the book in the back room of a borrowed house. He laid his glasses down on the desk in front of him and rubbed his tired eyes. The crackling of flames could be heard as the city burned all around them. The blood curdling screams of the men in the streets where they died was enough to make the blood of the fiercest warrior run cold, but he was a man of empathy and it hurt him more than it did the others.

Even during the movie clips he showed, all I could focus on was that chiseled jaw, those full lips, his “An answer, Clara?” he asked, voice husky. “Revenge. Honor. And…” I chewed the inside of my lip, making a complete guess. “War?”

I took my book and I lit my index finger with fire and tried burning the book. "They got us there". Zale said and sighed getting his own book and tried to toss it in the ocean. I stopped my fire and stopped him. "Well, as we are back to square one, let's just try to gather information from the northern part," I said and smiled at him. I put my book inside my bag again. It was pointless anyway, to burn the book. It is the book of origin, a book written by the Gods, it is protected from being harmed by anything, by anyone.

Sighing, I grabbed a chair and dragged it to where I thought I would find the books I so desperately needed. Reading the titles, I let my finger trail on the spine of the books until I found the one I wanted. "The sun god, Apollo," I read the title, and my eyebrows scrunched. Miall said her name was Ylil, and I guess generations and translations lost the message. Grabbing the book, I pulled it out of its home and held it in my arms as I started looking for the other books. "If you're looking for the other books, I'm currently busy with them," a voice said, and I looked behind me, confused.

"You can't lie to her. She's already six with the brain of Einstein. She will know what happened to Mom and dad." "Ares, you as- you, dummy," Athena paused before she could cuss because a child was present, but I heard so many bad words that they started sticking into my brain. I know they are bad to say, and I will not use them until I'm a bit older. "Do you want Effie to suffer?" "She is not the only one suffering, Thea," Ares barked back at our older sister and stood his large frame over her small one. But Ares cannot fight our sister and loses.

Though the thoughts about him were forefront now, because I still hadn't come to terms with what almost happened, I had to stop thinking about it now. Maybe later I would take my time to understand it. Maybe. I opened the book slowly, my fingers tracing the frayed and worn edges of the cover, "the chronicle of the six" it stood boldly in gold lettering glaring at me. The letters shimmered faintly and I quickly turned open the first page. "This is the Chronicle of the Six. The first beings born of the moon's light. This record holds their power, their dominion... and the truth before the Great Divide."

The people of the city fell to their knees. 💔 And for the first time since arriving here… Ilyaan felt true fear. Not fear of death. Not fear of the King.
