he asks, with no sign of sarcasm or plain disinterest.
"Yeah, I'll be fine," I clasp my hands, shutting myself off emotionally. Before turning to leave, I stutter, "I-I'll think about the yearlong internship."
He nods and heads back to the building.

There's a special bond between fathers and daughters that almost can't be described. The father-daughter bond is more than matching shoes, birthdays, and bring-your-child-to-work days—although the shoes are pretty cool.
I thought my bond with my father was strong—solid, at least—unable to easily break below pressure, but inevitably it would. Everything comes to an end.
