Book Character Names Ideas Novels & Stories

Joy! Making High Cliff a kingdom where they started people’s names with vowels was my tricky way of setting it up so that I can fill in more of my alphabetical goals in later books if I turn the story into a series, which I probably will, and hopefully get some more heroes and heroines’ names checked off my list.

1. Book 2 was never planned. It’s literally based on me putting two brain cells together to come up with ideas cuz the first book exhausted the rest of my brain cells, and I obviously didn’t expect to be writing a book 3. I was going to write one, but now it’ll be book 4 (we’ll get to that another time). 2. Natsumi’s name was originally Hakumei because it translates to twilight. Then I changed it to Koharu (which means little sun) because of her blonde hair, but I decided to make it Natsumi because...I just liked it better ok.

I said, to Leia who was resting her head on my chest. “Okay, so here it fucking goes. List number one are the normal fucking names, like. Nova, Cara, Aria and Aurora.” “They’re all cute names. What about the not normal list?” I said, very curious how strange these names would be. “Okay, these are all inspired by fucking movies or games. So Rayne, Willow, Rey, Ripley, Aeryn, Elora and Allana.” I laughed, “is it wrong that I like the movie names better? So which one is your favorite?”

I say to Dalon, and he gives me a strange look. “I am trying not to judge the name, but I am struggling a bit here.” He says and I have to remind myself that not all people read fantasy like it is a lifeline. “I named him after one of my favorite book boyfriends.” I tell him and he looks horrified now. “I have to compete with fictional men now?” He asks, making me laugh harder. “My big pup is Abraxos.” I say between laughs when I can actually catch my breath. “Where do people get these names? That can’t be a name for a male character in your books.” He says.

I started loong after that, on the twelfth of November, last year 😇 Fun fact: I later found that new book I started Alacrimia in (turns out I had it all along) and the main character's name was 'Eniitan' Close, right? 🤣🤣 No wonder I found it so hard to stick with names for her. It was when I thought of 'Eniiyi' that the author in me clicked it right. If not I'd not have written that book till today because I hadn't found a name that fits the character perfectly in my head. ♟️ Mmkay . . . I hope you guys don't mind that the very last chapter of the book is titled '.' ? It's my OCD 🤧 It wouldn't let me end a book with odd numbers that was not in 5s. Just even numbers and the 5s 😐

The next book will revolve around Andre, Arthur, Sean, Weston, Skylar, and Paxton, along with a few new characters. I wasn't planning on writing anything else after completing A Beta's Heart and The Darkness Within. But now that I'm near the end of this book, I can't imagine not exploring Sean and Arthur further, or not jumping into Andre's story to learn more about him and see where the story will take him. And Paxton… He's the most unique character I've ever created, and I only touched the surface of him in this book. I want to know more about him. I want to see where the next book will take him. I'm going to write one more book to see where these characters go, but that may be my last boo

I said, my voice taking on a teasing tone, "we need to think of some backup names too, just in case." Valerie laughed, the sound like music to my ears. "Oh, really? Do you have any other suggestions, Mr. Name Expert?" I grinned, leaning back against the couch and pretending to ponder deeply. "Well, for a girl, how about something unique and strong? Like... Athena?" "Athena?" Valerie repeated, a smile tugging at her lips. "Goddess of wisdom and warfare? Are you planning on raising a warrior princess, Ares?" "Maybe," I said, winking at her. "She'd have to take after her mother, after all. Smart, strong, and incredibly beautiful."
