**Elizabeth's POV** * I waited for Brandon's rant and scolding, but he did not do it. He just fished a few books out of the drawer, tossed them to me, and went back to sleep. I took several deep breaths before I picked up the books. They were not textbooks. They were obviously checked out from the library. Not everyone has the right to enter the library. Because many books in the library are confidential. And the three books Brandon gave me were World Geography, Warrior Combat Skills, and Medicine Encyclopedia.

Jacob laughed. “I’ll kick your ass too!” I said as I glared at him. “Kris! We have one more surprise for you.” Penny yelled from behind my front desk. “What?” I looked confused. She walked out carrying a massive book. I recognized what it was right away. It’s the type of book that you use for a portfolio. “You got me a new book?” “Kinda.” Penny showed me the cover. It had a Black Moon with two wolves howling. The leather was fresh as I could smell it. Alec took the cover and opened it for me.

Brayden looked up from his computer and across the room at Meredith. “Greta, have a seat on the couch. I’m almost finished with this.” He told her and then continued to type away at something. Meredith took a moment to look at the books on the bookshelf. There were mostly business book and biographies or books inspiring greatness lining the wall. She noticed one book was displayed next to a framed photo. The photo was a woman that looked a lot like Brayden and a boy about ten years old who looked like a younger version of Brayden. She assumed it must be Brayden and his mother. The book that was displayed on a stand next to the photo was Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

Something that feels like her. The shelves here are uneven, leaning with age, lined with books whose covers are frayed at the edges. My shoes sound too loud on the wooden floor. There’s an elderly man at the counter with her head bent over a crossword puzzle. He looks up once when I enter, nods, and goes back to scribbling in his paper. I trail my fingers along the spines, half-reading faded titles, not sure what I’m looking for until I see it—thin, burgundy cover, gold letters still faintly visible. Leaves and Shadows.
