Most of the pages seemed to be intact, although they looked very brittle and yellow. Just then, something moved on the cover. I yelped quietly and nearly dropped it. A large, pale spider skittered its way across the surface and disappeared over the edge. I shook the book once, gently, and it plopped to the floor and scurried away. Looking back at the book, I turned it over in my hands and wiped the dust off the cover.

After what seemed like ages, it got to his turn. Without turning to look at him, the man began talking like a programmed robot. “Name?” “Harold. Harold Girard.” The man looked up at him instantly, straight into his eyes but the next second he was staring at a blank form. He filled in Harold's name. “Kind?” “Huh?” Harold asked. The man looked up at him again. “I mean specie. What's your specie?” “Oh,” Harold replied with a faked smile. “Werewolf.”

The door closed behind him and made a beeping sound, showing it had locked automatically. I let out a sigh as I stared at the different package on the center table. I was yet to open any of them. I picked up the one Easton had given me for Alfred and opened it first. A small smile plastered on my face when I saw the little spider man outfit in the box. It even had a small tech device that I assumed was supposed to shoot out fake webs like the spider man in the movie. “Alfred would love this.” I muttered to myself before packing it back. I picked up the one he had given me and opened it. It was a small black book with a note on top.

After drinking, I set the glass on the sink and caught a glimpse of a book Xavier told me that was from my mom. I opened the book and saw a Spider-Man sticker on the first page. I smiled at it but I don't know why. I assumed because I just thought it was cute but there was something in my mind that recalled a feeling whenever I look at it. Suddenly I heard a little boy's voice in my head. Spider-Man is much cooler than Superman!! I turned to the spot beside the refrigerator where I can see a little boy holding up two stickers. I eyed him for a second, trying to decide was he real or was I starting to go crazy. Something about him reminds me of someone.

A spider crawled lazily out from the fold, disappearing into the night. Her breath hitched. She turned to the second page. And there it was—written in dark, crimson ink, the words bled like veins through the paper: "The Red Moon Child.. Alessia." Her eyes widened in shock. The book slipped from her trembling hands and fell into the pool with a soft splash. But instead of sinking, the water began to glow, first faintly, then blindingly bright. The ripples shimmered, turning from blue to pure white, swirling like a living vortex.

“Thank you thank you thank you, Mom! I love it so much!” Sidney pressed her hands into his back and tumbled into their embrace, the moment inflated by his joy. This is what she had purchased with all her money, the fleeting feeling in this split second. The hug ended, and Cameron hurried back to his bed, snatching up the near life-sized Spider-Man and clutching it instead. Yet he was still smiling, so it was still worth it. “Are you hungry, buddy?” Sidney asked. “Yeah, starving,” Cameron answered without looking up. “Dad said you would feed me dinner.”
