I’m tired of them already and I haven’t even spoken to them since that day they came. Dinner scent drifts from the kitchen, a mix of meat, herbs and something sweet. It should tempt me, but it doesn’t. My stomach knots instead of growling. All I want is silence, the house empty with just me inside, that should make me feel better. The book in my hand feels heavier than it should. I couldn’t find any book in the library that talked about fated mates no matter how long I looked, finally I saw this book that tells a story about the moon goddess and her love, hopefully it says something about how she created the fated mate bond…..fingers crossed.

It was the night and the time of the full moon celebration. I made my way through the crowded hall, exchanging greetings and smiles with the pack members. The air was filled with the delicious smell of roasting meat and the sound of laughter and chatter. As I greeted the last of the pack members, I spotted a vacant seat at the edge of the hall and made my way towards it. I sat down, taking a moment to collect my thoughts and observe the celebration.

She sighed as she looked at me. "What's the good news?" I asked. "The good news is this book didn't go missing on my watch. I just somehow kept missing that it was supposed to be there." The title of the book read, "Book of Alacai" in bright red. I could smell the blood from the letters. "What is this?" I asked, looking up at Ben. " I asked dad to bring it.", Jordan said, taking the book away from me.

I stared at it with the kind of horror reserved for secondhand embarrassment. Bailey slapped it on the counter. “For book club.” I read the title and nearly choked on my tea. ALPHA MOON: CLAIMED BY DESTINY. “Bailey,” I said, voice strangled, “I can not read this.” Bailey’s grin turned feral. “You absolutely can. And you absolutely will.”
