JOHN'S POV I reclined into my seat, reading newspapers were exhausting. The same headlines everyday. I knew that if I wanted to act like a judge at least I should be able to take a book and read on it.I stumbled on a textbook titled Elon Ad Vortem. It was an unfamiliar language that kept me intrigued. I checked it up on the internet and I couldn't belive that the meaning was so simple in contrast to the name itself. It meant Peace and Justice. I opened the pages and flipped through it .It was quite an heavy and voluminous textbook and the bulky paragraphs didn't help my condition.

That place gave me the serious creeps. The chill that ran through my body was enough to make me turn away, and I focused on looking for section 3A. Once I arrived, I went straight to Mom’s graduation year and searched for the healing majors. The Moon Goddess must’ve been with me because it didn’t take long before I had found the book I had been looking for. It was a huge, heavy book that clearly hadn’t been touched in years. I struggled to carry it to the nearest table, and when I finally set it down—I was surrounded by a cloud of dust.

I read until my eyes burned and my head ached. Nothing. Not one single record of an alpha being marked from the inside out. Not by a mate. Not by anyone. The title shimmered faintly, letters shifting until they settled.

Chapter 51 DAHLIA I guess listening to Blake and Ronan that night had indirectly affected me without my knowledge. I completely made a harmless hearing challenged man into some sort of kidnapper. But it wasn't my fault, Ronan had also been talking about bodyguards way too much. When I finally tapped the man's back, he dropped me off and apologised. By then, I had already texted Ronan asking for help. I blamed it all on my subconsciousness. I had unconsciously learned to lean on Ronan for help. Somehow, I trusted him even though I'd never admit that. Despite how he has been treating me recently, I trusted him.

I smiled and gave a slight wave at the people inside the library and took my seat on the chair. "Alright everyone, as we settle in for our event today, I'm pleased to announce that Ms. Caterina Santelli has graced us with her presence," the woman announced, making the crowd erupt with cheers and applause. "The signing of magazines will start momentarily." And it did start. It was tiring and most of the questions I got were annoying, but I had fun. I was glad to be on the cover, glad to be adored and glad that people looked up at me like I'm a superhero, when in reality, I'm anything but.

Surprisingly, I don't find the idea disturbing. Feeling boredom as it sets in quickly, I make my way over to the bookshelf. I start to peruse the titles and am shocked at what I find. I see the House of Night Series, The Twilight Series, Forbidden Knowledge, Harry Potter Trilogy, and various books on Military Protocols all with black covers. The books are all in good condition too. Not interested in any of the military books I reach for the first book in the House of Night Series. As I take the book over to the couch to settle in, the door swings open.

Arpit and I are fond of novels, while he loves to read horror, I am a mystery-thriller fan. I was unwrapping the parcel when Aunty called him and he went to her, telling me to keep his books in his room. The books were 5 while I remembered ordering only 4. I thought to check why I have received an extra book. Horrified by the revelation, the book was The Red Journal. I thought I was hallucinating. I picked up the red book and stood in front of the mirror. It was not my hallucination, it was real, just like me.

I moaned at him. I knew it wasn't his fault and he meant no malice with his nicknames, but the idea of twelve unknown men deciding whether I should live or die had my blood boiling. There is no way I'm going to let them take me down without a fight! I stood up and walked over to my father's desk and sat down on the Fionn's chair.
