When our eyes meet, I didn't recognize his. "Prince Dash, the first Prince you are looking for," his small voice rang as if it has been screamed right to my ears. I can't believe it. I swallowed hard and averted my eyes away from his before nodding. I get it. Alex's Pov The words on the page danced away from one another and then back together again, colliding and rolling over one another. They swam across the white background from one end to another and shrieked in alarm and scurried out of the way of one solitary raindrop. I blinked quickly, causing more raindrops to fall. I snapped the book shut. Crying was useless. I'd done enough of that the night before and again this morning. I dragged my forearm across my eyes a little forcefully, the rough fabric grazing my skin.

“It’s in a safe place… my hand.” I stretched my hand out. “Give it to me.” “Not until you sign this.” He produced a book from seemingly nowhere. Every instinct screamed that this was no ordinary book. “I want a drop of your blood here.” “Why?” I asked. “Why? Another condition of mine.” His smirk widened as he watched me crumble. My lashes trembled. My body shook with silent sobs. Cold sweat broke out across my forehead. “Take this, and you can go ahead and save him.” He passed me a small knife, the blade catching the light ominously. “A drop of your blood is all I ask for.”
