She thought she’d pick up a light romance to pass the time away with, but found herself diving into a book about haunted houses instead. She’d just finished mentally chastising herself for feeding her superstitions and fears with books of that nature and was hurrying to return it to the shelf when she accidently slammed into a firm, immobile body. At first, she thought it was a mannequin, but she soon realized that there was life in that smooth smile and those sparkling brown dark eyes.

The creature approaches me and then lies down in front of me. Stepping toward the large hound I reach out placing my hand on the nose of the creature. The dog closes their eyes as a strong presence fills me. I gasp as the dog begins to disappear, slowly begging absorbed through my fingertips. My breath picks up as my lungs begin to burn. I sink to the ground gasping for air.

As much as I think about the factory, with Rustov, I just want to distract my mind so that my brain is occupied. I opened the book and answered the activity I was asked to do. I don't know if I understood Janice's notes correctly but it looks like I'm doing it right. I just focus my mind on what I was doing. "The book of illusions," I muttered. Then the third item he brought out was also a small, glass container, containing sand in it. "This contains water, more precisely, rain water. As above, so below." He explained, "This book, the book of illusions which has the ability to suck anyone who opens it inside. Don't judge a book by its cover."

I proceeded to plop on the bed in my shorts and a shirt I stole from Vincenzo’s walk-in closet. “Since you’re not what you seem to be, I will just create evidence myself.” He shrugged, reaching for a pocket knife from his suit. My brows creased as I watched him. “What are you trying to do?” “What does it seem?” He looked up at me, holding the knife in his left hand as he deep-cut his right hand, blood dripping down his palm. My eyes widened in horror, ice slithering down my spine. As his blood dripped down his hand to the white duvet, his eyes remained unwavering.

“See? I told you. I can’t. This isn’t for me.” “Try again,” Di urged, voice trembling but steady with faith. “Just once more.” I swallowed hard. Fine. One more time. I pressed my palms against the cover and let my mind sink into the silence, into my own pulse. I pictured hinges groaning, pages fluttering. The book shuddered. Heat flared beneath my hands. My eyes flew open. It opened. Pages ripped themselves free, fluttering until one stopped in the center. The world held its breath. My chest hammered so loud I thought the lantern would shatter; the letters on the page pulsed under my palms like a second heartbeat:

At least there, I can have peace. When I arrived at the garden, I felt the peace hugging me. 'Finally.' Away from those stabbing gazes, away from that annoying expression of Rosine, away from that indifferent male lead. Amongst the books I brought with me, there's one with an inconspicuous book with a simple red cover. "From One Space to Another" is the title of the book. It is a romance story about a girl who can teleport from one place to another and a boy who was from another parallel universe.

I reached out and delicately retrieved it from the shelf, cradling it in my hands. A surge of anticipation coursed through my veins as I opened the book, its pages pristine and unmarred. The words within held the promise of hidden truths, a key to unlock the enigma that had consumed my thoughts. I read the title embossed in elegant lettering: "Tears of the Moon: Secrets Untold." My heart raced with excitement as I turned to the first page. The words danced before my eyes, weaving a narrative of forbidden knowledge and clandestine affairs. It spoke of a world beyond the ordinary, a realm where ancient forces converged and hidden battles waged under the pale light of the moon.
