Perceptive to a fault, the doctor quickly offered, “Mr. Levin is in the study right now. I can ask him to come around.”
“No need,” Vivian objected with a dry croak. She lay down on her back a little longer before slowly easing herself into a seated position through the heels of her hands and the doctor’s help. “How long have I been asleep?” she asked.
“A day and night.”
Vivian nodded to herself with an upward curl on her lips. “I haven’t had a peaceful sleep like this for a long, long time,” she mused quietly. When she noticed the doctor’s consternation, she smiled at her and soothed, “I’m fine, just a bit hungry. Could you please bring me some food from downstairs?”
