Liam dedicated the book to me and since its release last month, the book has grossed number one in the New York Times and Liam has become U.S.A best- selling author in the span of six months, we are going to the U.K to do a book signing, a reading out loud, a book party with authors and readers and I am accompanying him as the girlfriend who helped with the kissing scene. “Yes, I am ready.” I walk into the living room, grinning. The private jet is meant to leave in two hours from now so we are supposed to be driving to the airport soon. “Everyone is going to be excited to see you.”

I gagged. “Says the girl drinking whatever the hell that is.” He gestured to my smoothie. “If you must now it’s healthier than that.” I scoffed. “I’ll stick to my less healthy beverage thank you very much.” He retorted and took a gulp. “Soo good.” Rolling my eyes I opened my bag and took out the books we would be using, he had escorted me to my locker and I retrieved them before coming here. “Are you ok pigtails?” He asked staring at me curiously.

Valentina slid into the last stall, locked it, and set the briefcase on the narrow shelf above the toilet. Her hands moved fast, efficient. The key turned with a faint click, and the lid lifted. There it was. The ledger. Black leather, worn at the edges, its pages thick with ink. She flipped it open, her breath catching as names and numbers spilled across the paper: shipments, ports, bribes, politicians bought and paid for—routes carved in blood. It wasn’t just a ledger—it was an empire written in code and ink. Her chest tightened. If Dante wanted this, it wasn’t for leverage—it was for war.

I replied, moving away. “Ok!” he mumbled and drank it. “Read this for me while I sleep.” I said, giving him my book and settled my head on his lap. “Are you serious?” he asked, looking at me. “Shh... now read that calmly.” I replied closing my eyes. “Mom!” Ayesha said and I opened my eyes to see her standing before us. “What happened?” I asked her. “Read this for me.” She replied, showing me her book.
