Booker nudges Sonya, and she gives him a wolfy grin, taking off at top speed towards the lake house. He barks and follows, sniffing the air cautiously as they run. He cares for Sonya and her human, and he doesn't think his own human is careful enough with them. Every time he gets control, he checks for every scent in the immediate area, and if he doesn't recognise it as one of Avery's pack members, he goes on high alert and gets ready to attack. Sonya skids to a halt, staring at Booker excitedly before she playfully pounces on him, baring her teeth as she tackles him to the ground.

Alan replied. "That's my wine bar over there. They have the best wine. Go make yourself comfortable." Following, was an unnerving silence as Adrian watched Alan pour white wine into his glass and take sips, his mind at unease as he wondered what kind of news Alan wanted to release. "Wolves in neighboring packs are getting kidnapped, but none got missing from your pack. They are beginning to think you're collaborating with humans to steal your own kind." Alan paused, taking a sip as if to let his words sink in.

She dropped her backpack on the ground, lay down on the green fluffy grass, then looked up at the treetops. Booke was a very perky omega, with a rather curvy body and a prominent butt, capable of provoking envy in any woman no matter if she was beta, alpha, or an omega of her own status. Her eyes were blue, but with the ability to change color according to her clothing. She closed her eyes, letting herself be carried away by the sounds of the birds and the leaves moving as they were brushed by the wind. She smiled unconsciously like a little girl, bit her lip, and sighed opening her eyes, seeing that the sky was turning orange.

There is no mate bond, but having him close makes me feel more secure. “I can’t wait for you to see this.” He rubs his thumb on the top of my hand as he leads me to a store. It’s rare Bronx gets so excited about surprising me. We approach a bookstore with a dusty, old window display. In gold paint, there is a picture of a pan flute and a goat. The images are peeling and sundried as if they’ve been there forever. Over the pictures are the words ‘The Barded Goat Used & Collectible Books’.

His eyes were suddenly on fire now. With that annoying look he left the room, leaving me all puzzled. Freaking Artemis and his hormones. __________ It's been two days since I last saw Artemis. He's literally gone as if he didn't exist. Today while I was walking in the garden, I saw a kitten crying beside a small pine tree. It was so cute but it's white fur was dirty. Since I was alone and the kitten was also alone, we can be besties. I grabbed it in the house, gave it a hot shower, fed it meat from Artemis' refrigerator collection and finally it's sleeping in my bedroom peacefully.

Just handed me a fresh cup of tea and settled beside me, close enough for our legs to touch, like he knew I needed to get something out before I could speak it aloud. I angled the page toward the light and added the last curve of Rufio’s goofy, wide-eyed smile. Beneath the cartoon version of him, I sketched a leash looping into a scripted logo: “Bark in the Park.” Alan leaned in slightly. “Is that what I think it is?” I glanced over at him. “You tell me.” He smiled. “My dog-walking business.” “Our future,” I corrected. “I mean, it started as your thing, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.”

“Anything with an engine, we can tow, fix or build.” I nodded. “And you said ‘club.’ I’m assuming it’s not a sewing club, right?” Booker smiled. “Motorcycle club.” I stopped. It took him a minute to realize I was no longer beside him, which gave me a partial view of the back of his jacket. Dogs of something. Dogs of Wonder? No, that wouldn’t be right… a badass motorcycle guy wouldn’t have Dogs of Wonder on the back of his jacket. Well, crap! He walked back toward me. “You okay?”

I can’t even decide between them and wolf hunters who I should be more scared about. My hands instinctively went to my belly and I sent a silent prayer up to the moon goddess to protect me and my baby from whatever this is. I slowly turned around and came face to face with perhaps the ugliest man I have ever met in my entire existence.

Aria replied calmly. The woman smiled. But it wasn’t friendly. “Oh, sweet girl. This whole house is reserved. For those who understand what it means to survive it.” Aria stood slowly. “And you are?” “I’m Isabella. Luciano’s business partner. Sometimes more. Depends on the season.” That last part landed like a slap. Meant to. Aria didn’t flinch. But inside, something twisted. Isabella took a slow step forward, eyes scanning her like prey. “He has a habit of collecting strays. But don’t confuse obsession with affection. He doesn’t save people. He uses them.”
