The Billionaire's only exception

The Billionaire's only exception

Like it was a permanent open door. "Before I lived here," she said slowly, "I used to feel lonely in a way I couldn't explain. I didn't have people around me. I only had my brother, and when I finally had some few people they betrayed me." She paused. "And the loneliness I felt changed into the kind that lives right in the middle of a room full of people. The kind where you look around and realise that no one in the room actually sees you properly." She wasn't looking at him.

My Husband's Affair, My Anniversary Gift

My Husband's Affair, My Anniversary Gift

Riyana said. “I was,” Elara corrected softly. “For years.” There was a pause between them. Heavy. Uncomfortable. Elara looked back at the painting again. “This woman,” she said, pointing at the canvas, “she looks lonely. Even though she’s standing strong. Even though she hasn’t stepped into the water yet.” Riyana’s throat tightened. “Sometimes,” Elara added, “loneliness isn’t about being alone. It’s about standing in a place that was never meant for you.”

Kimberly Korenkiewicz Pearson
This author needs a better editor! They missed the misspelling of Jacob’s name throughout the entire book. Please go back and fix the misspellings. It’s frustrating to read this decent book and keep seeing the same errors.

The Lonely Howl

The Lonely Howl

I could no longer bear to look at him again. So I turned into a wolf and ran away, diving into the thickest forests. I did not stop, I just kept running and running and running. I never wanted to see Lucian again, nor the other wolves. I only wanted to keep on running to a different place, a place where I could not think of anything again, I kept on running and running without stops, I was so stupid. My whole life I saw Lucian as the one. After my parents died, Lucian was the only one who made me smile. It turned out he just saw me as a sister in need.

The Charismatic Charlie Wade

The Charismatic Charlie Wade

When his daily life was all about cultivation day after day, all his joy, anger, and sadness could only be reserved for himself and could not be shared with anyone else. In Charlie’s opinion, that feeling was not a search for longevity, but a search for loneliness. He felt that once a person gave up on his emotions and desires and fell into that kind of loneliness, his life would lose its true meaning no matter how long he lived. Charlie also could not help but wonder what would happen to him if the people around him also slowly aged with the passage of time.

The Rise Of The Betrayed Wife

The Rise Of The Betrayed Wife

“Building the company from nothing. Raising Rosie without her mother. Maintaining walls that keep people at a safe distance so they can't hurt me. It's exhausting. The kind of tired that goes deeper than one late night.” Isla set down her mug and typed quickly. I understand that feeling. Being alone in a crowded room. Sometimes the loneliest moments are when you're surrounded by people who should care but don't. Her words hit exactly where I was feeling it. That deep loneliness that came from being responsible for everything and everyone but having no one to share the weight with. I looked at her across the kitchen island. She was watching me with those dark eyes, her expression open in a wa

Rejected For A Throne

Rejected For A Throne

This one was the darker companion to it, the account of what happened to the person doing the remembering across thirty years of doing it alone. Sena wrote about isolation with the specific honesty of someone who had not experienced it as dramatic but as accumulative. Not a single decision to hide but a thousand small decisions not to explain, each one manageable on its own and together forming a kind of enclosure. She wrote about the books not as comfort, though they were that, but as a substitute relationship, the specific quality of engagement with fictional people that was available when real people were too costly to let close. She wrote about the moment she had decided to come back to

Fallen for Daddy's Friend

Fallen for Daddy's Friend

I never considered myself a lonely person. Eric and Laura have always been there for me, as have Julian and my father. But this Friday, when I find myself without the people who, for years, have been my pillars, I feel loneliness creeping up on me like a shadow, enveloping me in a cold embrace. Even my apartment feels empty and cold without Daddy's radiant presence, who's traveling for work and isn't expected back yet.

The Billionaire's Runaway Ex-Wife

Leon’s voice trembled as he made his vow, his heart aching with every word. All he could do now was hope she could hear him and feel his love even in her deepest silence. “You have been alone for three days,” Leon said, “The loneliness must have come to eat you. Loneliness is not good. I have felt it so I know. Baby, you must have your fair share of loneliness in life.”

Bestie's Alpha Brother

Bestie's Alpha Brother

Ethan hadn’t died, but he had shattered my heart with his infidelity—and now that he had been banished, perhaps he was as good as dead. Not that that made what had happened anything at all akin to the hell Leonard had gone through when he had lost his wife. Perhaps sensing my realization, Leonard offered me a rueful smile. “We’re two of a kind in that regard, I suppose. Two lonely souls merely trying to find a bit of companionship in this world.” His words resonated deeply inside of me, giving voice to the quiet ache I so often smothered in the busyness of day-to-day life. I knew, then, that he was right; I was lonely. More lonely than I had thought.
