The Catalyst

The Catalyst

Dannie picked up another joint from her room and went to the library. Among the ancient books was one of the largest collections of werewolf history in the world. If there was anything on Balric or the black book it was there. She gathered a variety of titles that looked promising and lit the joint. Taking a hit, Dannie opened the first book. Inside was mostly what she already knew.

THE DARK ALPHA'S MATE

THE DARK ALPHA'S MATE

I entered into the library and locked the door behind me. I immediately started searching through all the books. There were lots of interesting books there and I could learn a lot about werewolves and Alphas, if I wasn’t in a hurry I would really like to sit down and read through all the books, but at that time I had a particular information in mind that I was searching for. Maybe when all these are all over I could come back to read more. I found a couple of useful books. For example I found out werewolves usually have their powers at it’s peak during a full moon, and some of them even go out of control which normally leads them into a rampage.

A Werewolf Fantasy

A Werewolf Fantasy

“We have a more serious matter to look into right now. First of all, what kind of creatures are these? They do not quite look like us.” “I suspect that they are Nikjin’s minions,” said Monah, the general of Vak’s warriors. “From the little intelligence that I have been able to gather from my spies, your brother’s army of evil werewolves is a distorted version of our kind.” Vak sighed. “I thought that the rumors were just embellished to scare us, but it seems like they may be true. These beasts have unnatural strength and if it had not been for our numbers, they could have overpowered us and killed us all.”

Alpha's Heat His To Ruin Hers To Heal

Alpha's Heat His To Ruin Hers To Heal

Most of the pack still looked at me like I didn't belong there. But I was that desperate. The room was small and dusty. Shelves lined the walls, filled with old books and rolled-up papers. Everything smelled like leather and age. I started pulling books down, looking for anything about werewolves. About shifting. About why mine kept stopping halfway. The first few books were about pack law and territory disputes. Boring stuff that didn't help. But then I found ones about bloodlines. About different types of wolves. I read about Feral-Bloods like Axel. About Nightborns and Runebinders. About Pureblood Alphas.

Werewolves

"No, Del, you know what you're going to do is very wrong." "Delaphine," Junior again called her. "I'm coming, give me a sec," Delaphine told him. "You don't have to come, Delaphine," said to me. "Werewolves can kill you," I tried to talk her out of going. "Werewolves don't normally come out during the day time there mostly out during the night," she told me. Werewolves truly did mostly come out at night to hunt us. During the daytime, it seems they rested saving their energy for the night.

BLIND DATE WITH THE HUMAN HUNTER

BLIND DATE WITH THE HUMAN HUNTER

“Kevin prepared a manual for this.” She pulls out a thick document in a loose-leaf notebook. When I take it from Marilyn, it hangs heavy in my hand. “Just a little light reading for us?” I ask. The pages go slick against my fingers as I flip them to find sections about werewolf history, evolution, and culture. I chuckle at the absurdity of the situation. I’ve got a smoking-hot werewolf who wants to dominate me, while he’s got a control freak on his hands. To learn to deal with each other, we have to read a thick book of rules.

Alpha's Mage

Alpha's Mage

She filed away the thoughts. "So how were your classes today?" She changed the topic. "Boring," came the immediate reply in unison. ~*~*~ [Xavier] The library in their mansion was a cavern of ancient books and manuscripts. It contained the earliest recorded manuscript of the werewolves as well. He was sure that he would find something of importance here, it had to be. While the library on the campus was oriented towards catering to the research works of the students, most of the ancient books, the ones which are no longer published were shifted to the mansion library.

I am such an idiot. I’ve had this book in my library for an entire month before I decided to give this book a try and I am full of regrets. From beginning to end, this story has been fast past but very detailed, not jeopardizing the plot. I am in love with this book and intrigued by the plot

The Lycan King's Hybrid Mate

she asks, her voice quiet but firm. I nod my head, leaning back in my chair. "Yes. Most of the books in here are true accounts, histories of werewolves and Lycans from the past. Stories passed down through generations." Rosalee nods her head in understanding, her fingers tightening around the book before she turns and walks toward the black leather couch in the corner of my office. She sits down, curling her legs slightly beneath her, and flips open the book, immediately engrossed in its contents.

Of Wolves and Magic

Of Wolves and Magic

But instead of old stories from my grandmother’s life, the pages were scrawled with strange symbols and sketches—shorthand in her handwriting explaining the purpose of different runes and sigils. Flipping through the pages, there were sketches of wolves, and the last page that she’d written in had a detailed rendition of a nightmarish wolf-beast that made my blood run cold at the sight of it, it’s eyes smudged over with charcoal in the shape of a protective rune. My heart raced when I realized what I was holding. This was no ordinary journal, it was a spell book.

The Wolf, The Witch & The Vampire

The Wolf, The Witch & The Vampire

Her body is more lean and thin, but I wouldn’t underestimate her. Not only was the dinner situation unexpected, but my wolf paced restlessly in my mind. Alora, my beautiful reddish-brown furred wolf, mumbled under her breath constantly. She mentioned mates but then acted confused and said they weren’t mates. I definitely felt a pull to both of the strangers, but it was weak. I agree with Alora’s confusion. The guy was a vampire and the woman smelled like a human yet not, code for witch in my senses. There is no way I could been mated to either one of them, never mind both!

Preguntas frecuentes

I find the whole 'best' list conversation a bit limiting because 'thrilling' can mean so many different things. A lot of people will recommend the classics like Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson series, which is solid—urban fantasy with a mechanic who happens to be a walker, dealing with fae and werewolf politics. It's more procedural than pure adrenaline for me though.

My personal pick for a genuine thrill, something that actually made me check the locks, is Glen Duncan's 'The Last Werewolf'. It's written from the perspective of Jake, the last of his kind, and it's brutally philosophical, visceral, and deeply cynical. The prose is sharp enough to draw blood. It's less about the chase and more about the crushing weight of monstrous existence, which I found far more unnerving than any standard hunt narrative. For sheer, pulpy fun that moves at a breakneck pace, I'd throw in 'The Werewolf of Paris' by Guy Endore. It's old, but it reads like a frantic, bloody gothic nightmare that influenced so much of what came after.
