I would be far away from here tomorrow, far away from all the pain, far away from all the sad memories here and most importantly far away from Adrien, I would finally put the past behind me. I got ready pretty early the next morning, excitement brewing in my chest. I put on a white floral dress with simple black sandals and my hair in a neat bun. As soon as my Uber driver informed me of his arrival, I was on my way to the airport, the feeling of freedom better than I ever expected. As I sat by the window in the airplane,I went over all the years I wasted trying to make Adrien love me, all the years spent in America, all for nothing. Not once did Adrien treat me nicely, not even for one day,

Damn, Freckles. The first book I pulled out was called “Images You Should Not Masturbate To”. I snorted, flipping through a couple of pages and shaking my head. That sarcastic streak of hers ran deep. I grabbed another, the title catching my eye: “How to Traumatize Your Children: 7 Proven Methods to Help You Screw Up Your Kids Deliberately and with Skill.” I let out a short laugh, one that came from somewhere I’d almost forgotten existed. Then there were the others—Fancy Coffins to Make Yourself, Do-It-Yourself Coffins for Pets and People, and, for good measure, How to Raise Your IQ by Eating Gifted Children. I shook my head, glancing back at her still sleeping form.

Hardly do I know anyone in this place to even make a guess. I shook my head , thinking, "You are just overthinking this.” I mumbled bur my mind would not listen. I swung my feet off the bed and walked over to a small table that had some books on healing lying all over it. I lit the candle, opened one of the books, and began to read. Whatever I was reading was only making my head more muddled; quite a number of illnesses could weigh down an alpha wolf's spirit or sap it of energy, but all of them said something about certain signs being in place very early.

She was hoping that she could at least get a book for free since she didn’t have any crystals she could use to buy any books. When she walked into the bookstore, it was just a small room with a few shelves and among the books on the shelves she found a book she wanted. She picked up a catalogue first and read what was inside. She was allowed to pick two books for free and the rest she had to buy. Since a miracle was happening to her, she decided to take her time in order to pick two books that could help her in money making. She chose the herbs and flower introduction book; she believes that she could do well with it.

CHAPTER 1- For a girl like me, being unusual is difficult; I was born with a gift called "Real Sight," which allows me to see things that regular people cannot. Spirits, apparitions, elements, and mythical creatures, to name a few. As a result, I preferred to avoid social situations. Others who are solely concerned with themselves can never understand how to live in the dark, surrounded by these strange creatures. After my father died, even my mother abandoned me. She cut me off from my only brother and placed me under the care of my grandmother.

Suddenly, the book flipped open and the pages began to flutter back and forth. I stood up in shock, knocking my chair over as I did. The sound of the chair clattering against the floor broke Miriam from her thoughts. She grinned as she saw the book, laying open to a page labeled "Hybrids". "Miriam." I sputtered. "What was that? That book just moved and flipped pages on its own. That's not any kind of fae magic I've ever seen." She looked at me, amusement in her eyes. "I told you, it's my book, it responds to me. I'm spirit fae, and while I may not know much about what that means, I do know that I have a connection to dark magic."

Lyda flipped the book over to see if she was simply looking at the wrong side, but there was nothing on the back either. Curiosity getting the better of her, Lyda opened the book to the first thick parchment, blowing away the dust and dirt that littered the yellowing page. She wondered how old this book really was to have collected so much filth. Lyda slid the candle closer until she could make out some faded writing on the center of the page. It was written in the common tongue, but in a style that was almost too difficult to read. That did not stop Lyda, and her eyes lit up in astonishment. She had to read it over and over just to make sure she was seeing it right, squinting as she read th

“Besides, The Way of Ah-Tzenul says to invoke the spirit of Ah-Tzenul in your harvest, you gotta give an offering of . . . ” “Books,” she says, grumbling. “Yer damn books. That’s where you’re getting this foolishness from? Hell, I should’ve known. You sitting around all day on your fat ass, reading them damn books, stuffing your head with fool ideas about nothing at all. Why, I oughta drag them books out to the burn pit, pour kerosene over em, and burn em up, and another thing . . . ”

The light illuminated the space, full of old objects and stacked boxes. As she walked, a loose floorboard creaked beneath her feet. She bent down to see what it was and, with some effort, lifted the board. She found an old book, covered in dust, with a leather cover filled with drawings of supernatural creatures. Scarlett’s heart began to race; something about the book drew her in, as if it held secrets waiting to be discovered.
