I turned around and faced him.

“You thought I spent all my time growling at people?” I turned toward him with a smile. “Something like that.” He shook his head with an amusement in his eyes. I moved toward the bookshelf, running my fingers lightly along the spines.There were books about pack history, territorial maps, strategy, hunting, leadership and even a few old novels. “You actually read these?” “Some of them.” I pulled one out slightly before putting it back.“I didn’t know you had this side to you.” “There are a lot of things you don’t know about me.”

In the corner of my eye, I caught him standing in front of the shelves, running his fingers along the books. “Right, who are you and what have you done with my son?” I asked, “Since when have you been into reading?” He looked up, “I’m reading books about the pack.” I rearranged Ana into one arm as I reached up to the bookshelf. “Try this one next.”

I answered and I saw his smile brighten as he sensed my enthusiasm. “Well now we have the internet, I wonder if there will be any books in the future, it seems every written word is digitized and kept on disc drives, not on paper.” He waved at the floor to ceiling bookshelves we had in the room. “This will be consigned to ancient history.” I looked at the shelves, filled with law books, and some classic literature and sighed. “I hope not Daddy but what matters is that the power of the written word will continue, one way or another.”

He reached for it, and I reluctantly lifted my knees to let him take it. He read the title aloud, his voice laced with amusement: “Captured and Claimed by the Mafia Don?”. "Really?
