Summer Child

Summer Child

“What is all this stuff anyway?” Mitch pulled the closest crate nearer to them, and she took a quick glance through. “Just a bunch of old ledgers in here, looks to do with Granddad’s carpentry business,” she said with a shrug before they started rummaging through the next one. More of the same, boring paperwork and such, had her starting to think it was just a landing place for odds and ends and some storage. “Weird,” she said, just about ready to pull them back out of there to finish what they’d started in the library.

MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S ROYAL BLOOD

MARKED BY THE ALPHA'S ROYAL BLOOD

"Are you ready for today?" "Yes! What book are we reading today?" I show her the book I picked out. “ We are reading Little Rabbit!” I say in excitement Brenda claps her hands and runs to the reading circle of children who have started coming in The rest of the children trickle in over the next few minutes. In comes Matthew the boy with ginger hair and for missing front teeth. Then Agatha, the troublemaker. Kelvin, the little child who is so hyperactive. They are also different but I love them and their own way

S U M M E R My little minion took her sweet time getting ready for bed. When I walked in, she was still chattering away, holding out one of three different books for us to read. "That one, Mommy! I love alligators. And wolves. Do we have any books about wolves?" Only my daughter would choose an alligator book over a cheerful dog or a cuddly teddy bear. But wolves? "I don't think we have any wolf books, but how about a doggie story?"

She Ditched Her Scumbag Husband After Her Amnesia

She Ditched Her Scumbag Husband After Her Amnesia

He did not just understand them; he was really good with the words. Leon could not believe it. He felt a mix of surprise and a little bit of jealousy. Most three-year-olds were great if they could talk well and count to 3. Here was this kid, already reading English storybooks. It just was not fair how some kids were so smart.

Nanny For The Alpha's Lost Twins

Nanny For The Alpha's Lost Twins

The Little Mermaid popped out at me, as did The Emperor's New Clothes, but I thought maybe a story that people are foolish in public wouldn’t be the best choice. Then I looked around some more and picked up Floca’s Moonshot: The Flight of Apollo 11, Lewis’s The Wolf, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and Dahl’s Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and a few others. I paused at the Harry Potter series, but while the girls were old enough, being werewolves, for the story, I knew the sizes of the books would put them off. Next year, I thought. They’d have handled textbooks by then and wouldn’t be so rapidly opposed to books an inch thick or more.

What Survived The Burn

What Survived The Burn

She zips it and picks up another. “The next age group is six years old to twelve years old.” She unzips the pack and inside I see cards, and fidgets. Sketch pads and pencils. Toothbrush and toothpaste. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and one of those little small loofah. There is also a spiral bound notebook. “She thought of everything,” I laugh quietly, “okay I don't need to see the rest of the contents but tell me the other age groups.” She points to the front of the boxes.

The Work of Grace

Azalea follows and against me, my wife sighs happily. “I think if I have to read again about Corduroy losing his button, Swimmy and the school of red fish learning to overcome dangers together or Max being sent to bed without supper and traveling Where the Wild Things Are to become their king, I might be sick. Don’t we have any new books around here?”

Dane circled the table and I giggled, ducking out of his reach and spinning around his back before shooting for Xavier again. I managed to read the paper in that time, stopping as my heart melted. Broken by One, Desired by All

Broken by One, Desired by All

It didn't just come back, it swallowed the hallway whole, pulling me down, down into the grit and the shadow of the past. The morning air in the breakfast nook was warm, smelling of toasted bread and the sweet, sticky tang of strawberry jam. I remember the way the sun hit the silver spoons, making little dancing lights on the ceiling. I was happy. I was six years old, and my only worry was whether I’d get to the best part of my knight book before lunch. "Can I go read now, Mommy?" I asked, swinging my legs under the table. My sneakers made a soft thwack-thwack against the chair legs.

I usually don’t do reviews however I feel like this book may get overlooked. I didn’t know how I would feel reading this book at first but the author has a fantastic way of writing which is easy to read and picture. I think the romantic relationships in this book is more tasteful than I expected!

Mommy, Can Jordan Be My Daddy?

Mommy, Can Jordan Be My Daddy?

Kids' toys are everywhere, and a little boy with dark brown hair is sitting in the middle of the floor looking at a book. "Noah, this is Dakota and Gavin. Remember, I said we were going to have visitors?" Dina asks him gently. He doesn't do more than glance at us before looking back at his book. Dakota walks over and sits next to him when he begins rocking back and forth slightly. "I like to read too. This is one of my favorite books. I love the dragons." She says softly, pointing to the page he's looking at. Noah turns to look at her, and she smiles.
