The librarian rings up the books and hands him the total. "You know, if you're interested, we have some other wonderful children's books that just came in. I think your children might love them."

Why, are there some strange books in there?” He shrugged and pulled them out of the bag, flipping them over to read the titles to you. “Well, there’s this one, ‘A Guide to Parenthood: Everything you need to know about being a new parent’, and this one, ‘1001 Games to Play With Your Baby’.” He held them up for you to see, giving you a confused look. You smiled nervously, fidgeting lightly in your seat. “Um, nope, no, those are, uh, those are for you- for us actually I guess.”

She walked towards me and placed another box next to me and I reached out to it while still clutching at the frame. I picked at the ribbons and unwrapped them, the sides of the box fell apart to reveal books, childish fairytale books that I always saw in the hands of my mates when younger and I wish I had them. Books that when I got the chance to look at it, I stuttered when I read and then I gave up. Besides the books were CDs of cartoons that Amara had talked about from her childhood and I couldn't relate cause I wasn't privy to them.

She reached for a cart that had a note with her name on it, at the end of the book shelf and started putting on some comics inside. “Which do you think suits best for a five-year-old?” Sam looked up and saw the woman holding up two children’s book in front of her. She pondered for a while, knowing that she purchased both books and donated to a charity. “Parrots more suitable for a five-year-old,” Sam finally answered politely. “It has more pictures and the story is easy to understand. The other one is a great book as well but it’s better for ten years and up. Some words are too advance for young kids.”

“But smart people learn from them.” I stared at him. “How old are you?” “Six,” they said in unison. Six. Six years of bedtime stories I missed. Of scraped knees. Of first words, first steps, first days of school. Six years I would never get back. “And you?” I asked. “We can read chapter books,” one said proudly. “And we know multiplication.” “And planets,” the other added quickly. “Except Pluto. It’s complicated.” I actually laughed this time. A real laugh.

She says, and I nod my head before placing two sets into the trolley. "What's next?" I murmur and Sienna glances at me. "What about books?" She suggests and I brighten immediately. "Definitely." I say, nodding my head and we make our way to the right aisle. The children's section is beautiful. Colorful covers fill the shelves. Animals. Numbers. Letters. Fairy tales. Learning books. Aiden picks one up. "This one has dinosaurs." He says excitedly and I laugh. "I'm shocked that they actually have dinosaur books"
