The books on the shelf were neatly arranged but the frayed edges and the little tears on the bottom of most of the books gave out that they’d been read a couple times. I mean, I’m used to my own organized chaos, but this—this feels like I’m trespassing in a space I have no business being in. I throw myself onto the couch—her couch, which, for the record, has zero crumbs on it. It’s like the couch doesn’t even know what a crumb is. I grab the one on top and flip through it. It’s one of those self-help books, the kind people like to pretend they don’t need but secretly read every morning before their third cup of coffee.

Yeah, the last few weeks haven't been too kind to me. There were a few good things that happened and like “motivation gurus” always say in such an intense manner, “concentrate on the positives”. While I was never a fan of these kinds of motivation write-ups, videos or even self-help books, I agreed with that. It never hurts to count your blessings. It never hurts to appreciate all the good things that have happened or are happening to you.

I begin scanning titles desperately, hoping to find something useful. Maybe something like: How To Stop Embarrassing Yourself By Flirting With Straight Men.
