Deep Inside
Smoke curled around him, a shadow against the skyline.
“You shouldn’t smoke,” she teased, leaning against the doorframe.
Jon didn’t look back. “I shouldn’t do a lot of things.”
She crossed the balcony, stealing the cigarette to take a drag herself. He watched her then, eyes flicking with something raw.
“You’ll destroy me,” he said finally, voice low.
Lilith’s heart clenched. “You think I haven’t already been destroyed?”
That silenced him.
She pressed closer, sliding the cigarette from his hand, setting it aside. “Maybe we’re both already ruined. So what does it matter if we burn each other?”
