Books That Make You Think. Novels & Stories

The air is thick with the musty scent of paper and knowledge, and the gentle hum of whispered conversations and rustling pages creates a soothing background noise. The shelves themselves are a marvel, towering above him like sentinels of wisdom. Books of every shape and size are stacked neatly, their covers a riot of colors and fonts, each one beckoning him to explore its contents. The spines of the books seem to whisper secrets, their titles and authors a testament to the vast expanse of human knowledge and creativity.

Damn. I ignore that thought. I'm safe here for now and Noah is not an asshole like I thought he was so no need to do anything irrational. I wonder how one could be so wealthy and good-looking but yet he has no one he loves that's just so lonely. I've never met anyone like him. Even if he isn't I love, how does he get off steam? I proceeded to study to explore awesome books. The books below are just philosophers' books. I'm in no mood for philosophy today, above that are literary books. I'm in no mood for that either. I climb the ladder to get up where I see books of mythology and fictional books.

"Is that a bad thing?" "Of course, it's not. I actually like those people who love to read books. Their minds... I like the depth of their way of thinking. Complex but full of wisdom, and they know to view things in different angles or perspective. In my many years of existing, I have only met some people with that mind depth. Most of them are writers and bookworms." "I also think that way," I said. It really feels good to have someone who has the same perspective as yours. You know, talking about something is different from talking about something that concerns you in a way that both of you have the same way of viewing the topic.

Jamia: ‘Then walk,’ she said. ‘One of the CEOs, well I forget who’s CEO is that, but then he said, the best ideas formed when we walk.’ Irina: ‘Sure, I’ll do that,’ I said. ‘Have you finished the book I sent you, The Time Traveler’s Wife?’ Jamia: ‘Yes,’ she said. ‘I am now reading the second book you sent me, your favorite, Tuesday with Morrie by Mich Albom.’

I sounded so loud and shocking. Adelaide froze, before she turned slowly. “And why not?” Because it’s dangerous. Because every story I ever heard about these books ended badly. But what I said was different. “Those texts influence the mind,” I said. “They make people see things that are not real.” Adelaide stared at me like she couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “You think I’m imagining things?” “That is not what I said.” “It is exactly what you said.” The room suddenly went silent, as we both stared at each other.

As I perused the books, I could feel Aidan’s gaze on me. The shop, much like the one downstairs, boasted an impressive selection. These were books to be enjoyed in the coffee lounge, not purchased or taken home. A smile tugged at my lips as I reached the romance novel section. So, Well Thumbed had these too. I wondered if they had hidden gems, perhaps something I hadn’t read or that Uncle Alex’s book club, Bound To Please, hadn’t discovered yet.

I heard him end the quiet, just now acknowledging how I lost myself in thinking. I lifted my head and stared at his scrutinizing look, and allowed my eyes to fall onto the book again before replying, "Certainly not, this book has it all: class conflict, politics, religion, women’s rights, and passion. It makes you think, it makes you reflect on what was and it makes you ponder how we got from one point to another." I expressed it without holding back. I found it refreshing to pour my mind out to someone who doesn't totally detest me.

With a gentle hug, I put the book down and immediately left for work. At 5:30 I was behind the shop waiting for my employers. I began to think about what happened last night. I was contemplating how a small book could increase in size by itself. The book could talk and give instructions for humans to follow. What amazed me more was the fact that fire of blood could rest in a bowl and the book didn’t burn but when I put my hand I was burning that I could even felt the fire even in my intestines.
