A reader? I feel drawn to the shelf like a moth to a flame. My fingers trail over the spines — classic literature, philosophy, ancient history. Lost in the titles, my eyes land on a beautiful leather-bound edition of Wuthering Heights. I rise onto my toes, straining, my fingers just brushing its edge. It wobbles and then falls from the shelf with a heavy thud that sends a cloud of dust into the air making me sneeze twice.

There was something about her that I felt deeply connected with, a major reason I always turn back to this book when my life tides seem to get violent. Because my book issuing date was near and I had already read the book, I decided to go to the library and get a new one. My reading habit dates back when I was little. Though, my fondness with inked pages is perpetual, I have become more talkative. In fact, the pile of my words can be categorised as rambling.

Mia's eyes lit up, and she felt an instant connection to the room. She settled into a plush armchair, running her fingers over the spines of the books. The room seemed to wrap around her, providing warmth and solace. As she started to read, time slipped away, and Mia lost herself in the world of words. Amidst the roaming, her mind traveled back to the book of Enchantments. She still had a lot to discover, a lot to practice. With a promise to herself to go through it all at night, she pushed the thought away momentarily and enjoyed the comfort of the library.

I answered honestly where I could, and gently redirected when things got too personal, and after a while the novelty of me wore off and they drifted back into their own conversations about schools and trips and gossip about people I didn’t know. Lily and I ended up sitting together near the edge of the room, slightly removed from the noise, and she pulled out her phone to show me a picture of the book she was currently reading. “It’s a reread,” she said. “I always go back to it when I’m overwhelmed.” “Comfort reading,” I said. “Yes,” she replied eagerly. “Exactly that.”

“Exactly. I mean, kids can read online, sure, but nothing beats holding a book, feeling the pages. There’s something about it, slows you down, makes you focus.” Tom leaned in, his eyebrows furrowed. “Right, but how do we get them back into the habit? Most parents just give in to the screens because it keeps kids quiet.” “I’ve been thinking about that,” I said, eyes lighting up. “What if we gamified reading? Reward systems, little challenges, like, read a chapter, get points. Make it social, too. Kids love sharing achievements.” Ben’s face lit up. “Yes! And maybe integrate some kind of digital tracker—so it’s tech-friendly but still pushes actual reading. Blend the two worlds.”

I decided to sit up and try to be positive but it was hard being positive because I kept thinking so many had thinks like what if he never get back my kids, what if Claire hurts him in process of getting my kids. I look towards the library and I thought of checking out some books, I have tried reading some books but never finished up those books. I got out of the bed, wear my slippers and walk to the library. I move my hand on the books in the library and I pull out a book. I sit to read but I just didn't find it interesting, I returned it and pick another one, I opened it and began to flip the pages and think it's not my kind of book.

I close my eyes and allow myself to fantasize. I can already picture myself rocking gently in the rocking chair on a breezy afternoon sipping fruit juice and getting sucked into the world of my newly acquired copy of Haruki Murakami's 1Q84 with Chet Baker's Almost Blue playing softly on the turntable in the background while butterflies happily suck nectar from the California poppy flowers outside. The sound of a dog barking from a distance drags me back to reality and I open my eyes. I take in the rest of my surroundings.

_KIMBERLY_ I stared at the bookshelf in front of me and hummed in thought. Despite me coming to the nearest bookstore to buy some books, I had no idea of what books to get. I was here in hopes of finding a new hobby. I wasn't much of a reader but the internet told me that reading was a good way to pass time. Not wanting the usual experience of looking at my phone screen or laptop, I decided to buy a real life, paperback book and I felt damn proud of that idea. But here I was, at a loss of what to book to pick.
