Bound By Prophecy, Claimed By Fate Novels & Stories

The room hummed with dread, and the elders whispered to each other like children around a ghost story. They called her cursed. They called him bewitched. Perfect. When the hall finally emptied, I remained where I was, fingers resting on the railing, listening to the echo of their footsteps fade. The moon beyond the windows had turned pale, almost colorless. “You’ll try to save her,” I murmured to the empty air, imagining Ares’s defiance. “And in doing so, you’ll destroy everything you swore to protect.” I glanced down at the parchment copy of the prophecy hidden in my sleeve. When the moon bleeds, the blessed and the cursed shall share one fate.

"This could have been over if you had just come with me." Max morphed as he spoke, going from looming drach to huge man in a few breaths. "Don't be a fool, Dark One," he said while his people hummed in agreement. "The prophecy-the Fates-are very specific. Not even we are outside their purview." That was interesting. "I thought you were random?" He shrugged, smiled. "Is there really such a thing, Syd? Or is random merely another term for a choice to be made?"

“This bond… it’s more than fate. It’s survival.” And in the darkness, something ancient stirred. The prophecy wasn’t just unfolding. It had begun.

His breath ghosted across my lips. "And it says," he whispered, "that I am the only one who can either stop you... or complete you." Horror and something else—something hot and forbidden—twisted through me. "What does that mean?" His smile was wicked. Possessive. "It means, Kaia, that you and I are bound by fate. By blood. By prophecy." His grip shifted to my throat, not choking, but claiming. "You are mine now. Your power, your life, your Awakening all of it is mine to control."

His intense gaze softened, and for the first time in days, I saw something like unease flicker in his stormy eyes. “What does it say?” His voice was low, strained. I unfolded the letter slowly, the weight of it pressing against my chest. The words on the parchment were short and cryptic, and yet they carried the weight of a prophecy I had never hoped to hear again. “A god who walks as a man is still bound to fate.” I felt the cold air in the room grow heavy as if the walls themselves were closing in, drawn tight by the threat in those few words.

Blood paints the stones, and the Boundless sigil pulses behind her like a heartbeat. I clutch my head and collapse to my knees, pain blooming behind my eyes. The futures are bleeding into each other, fighting for dominance. None of them are fixed. None of them are true. I can feel it in my bones: the prophecy is no longer holding and it’s because of me.

“Nor me.” “But what if prophecy—” she began, the word catching in her throat like a splinter. Lucien’s grip tightened with sudden intensity, not enough to hurt—just enough to remind her he was real, here, unmovable. His eyes locked on hers, sharp with certainty. “Prophecy is a warning,” he said, each word precise, deliberate. “Not a verdict.” Rowan nodded into her hair, breath warm against her skin. “And fate bends for the Axis,” he added softly. “Not the other way around.”

Lucien still doesn’t move or speak. His expression remains carefully controlled, but I can see the tension building beneath it. The way his jaw tightens slightly more with each word. The way his fingers curl faintly against the edge of the desk. Then I finish with the part I’ve been avoiding the most, the prophecy. The scroll, the words that won’t leave me. “Bound by blood,” I say quietly, my voice steadier now despite everything, “separated by shadow, united by fate—only forgiveness breaks the curse.”

I purred. He was silent for a while, before taking in a deep breath and exhaling. “There’s more to the prophecy than what you know.” My heart thudded. “What do you mean?” Eric stepped closer, his gaze intense. “The Blood Moon. If neither you nor your mother kills each other when it rises, the world will be thrown off balance. The mystics’ powers — the wolves’ strength, the vampires’ immortality, the witches’ magic — will spin out of control, consuming the world in chaos. That’s the part of the prophecy my father doesn’t want you or anyone else to know.”

Replied Zach, “I didn’t mean it that way buddy! I would never.” I knew he was saying the truth. But this feeling was strong, and it was hard to control it. It was the wolf part of me trying to protect its mate. Zach was a wolf too, so he understood. “Yeah, no hard feelings.” I said and then, changing the subject. “So, how’s it going with the investigation about the prophecy?” There was this old prophecy told by my people, that a darkness would awaken and bring despair to our family. It was believed that this prophecy would soon come true. Zach oversaw the investigation, trying to find what would awaken and try to prevent it.
