Laredo is informed. The letter wasn’t signed with a name. It was signed with a symbol—a small, stylized compass. I felt a jolt of recognition. I had seen that symbol before. It wasn’t on a legal document. It was on a piece of jewellery. I reached for my phone, scrolling through the photos Lisa had sent me of her wedding day. I zoomed in on the photo of Arthur Vance officiating the ceremony. He was wearing a small, silver lapel pin. A stylized compass.

But this is Orion we're talking about, and if he’s willing to go to any length to take the only thing that matters to me, then I'll break all my ruke to get to him first. Immediately, he pulls a slender silver blade from his belt, and drags it across my palm with a sigh. The pain rips through me, but I hold it in. Drops of my blood hit the edge of the scroll, and it hisses, like it’s alive. The thread tying it unwinds, and we see a rough map inside. It's a red moon sigil painted over our lands, the Bloodmoon Pack territory. And under it, some words are scrawled in an old language:

“Do you swear to defend, honor, and protect all members of this pack?” “I do.” “As Alpha of the Red Moon Pack, with a cut on my hand and the cut on your hand, our joining of bloody palms signifies your official joining to the Red Moon Pack.” Alpha Callan dragged the dagger across the palm of his hand blood slowly started to trickle out. I raised my hand and he grabbed my hand. A calming sensation moved through my body from his touch. He made a similar small cut across the palm of my hand. I winced slightly at the cut but tried to keep my face straight.

Each of them at alert and set to take actions in case the other side tried to play tricks. Dante watched the man fix his signature to the document. "Good" he remarked and lifted his hand towards one of his men. The man handed him a small pocket knife and Dante dropped it on the table. "What for?" The man asked. "Dante Romano always and always requires a blood signature" Dante spelt out and the man gulped down, picking the pocket knife. "I can make use of a needle to prick my thumb, can't I?" The man asked. "I have no time to waste. Do what you have to do and let me leave" Dante rasped and the man unsheathed the pocket knife.

I was standing next to Lorenzo, while Killian was standing next to Valerie. Valerie pulled out an athame blade, and she handed it to Killian. He held it with his left hand and pierced the sharp blade into his right palm. Blood began to flow from his hand, and it fell into the wooden bowl in Valerie's hands. As the cursed Alpha of the Crescent North Pack, his blood represented the entire pack. Lorenzo pulled out another blade and handed it to me, I held it with my left hand and cut my right palm with it. My blood rushed down into the same bowl that contained Killian's blood.

The stream behind me stilled; even the wind refused to breathe. Then I saw something, his hand, long-fingered and pale, sliding from the shadow. Black symbols crawled across his skin, shifting like living ink. In his palm was a shard of glass, sharp enough to slice the air. “Blood,” he said simply. “The currency of all things.” Before I could reply, he lifted the shard and pressed it to my palm. Pain flashed white. I gasped, watching a thin line of crimson bloom across my hand. The blood dripped into the earth, hissing as it touched the ground.

I stated and turned my back to them and stepped on the way out and paused my steps suddenly. “Oh….I almost forgot to say. You will be signing the contract with your blood. Hope you have no objection on that.” I added and said. “Blood signing….But……” Brandon said in a shaky tone however he didn’t speak further cause he knew it would cost their life anyway if they refuse. Blood signing was common in the vampire world. When someone does blood signing, that person has to stay loyal to their contractor, or else they would die immediately after they deceive their contractor.

But I am watching the red light leave. I am watching a thing that reads as my own blood drain off our hull and fall away into the dark, and I did not put it there, and nobody told me it would be there, and the part of my brain that has kept me alive for thirty years does the only arithmetic it knows how to do in the half-second it has. He has a sample of me. Has had it the whole time. He just released my signature into the water in front of a Syndicate hunter. Men do not put your blood where enemies can smell it by accident.

"Then that makes it a deal." He stretched his hands, and thunder sparked in his hands, and then a scroll appeared. After biting his hand with his long fangs, he signed with his blood and did the same for her. "The deal has been made, milady," he said, his alluring voice echoing through the room filled with dead people.

The man hisses, and the other stranger standing around them was silent. She struggled to open her eyes saying. "Yes because I needed to win, you should've seen the look on your face. It was priceless"She met his blue eyes and saw the raw desperation within and watched him quickly scan the ground and splash his hand in a puddle of her blood. He was not touching her, but her blood. “What are you doing?” she asked even as her vision clouded over. His hand ran over his bare chest, drawing deep red lines against pale white canvas. It was a symbol she could barely recognize.
