I retort, and his grin only fuels my irritation.
“Fiery Athena, I like it,” he says, his voice full of mocking admiration as I ignore him and start walking toward the club. He follows me, still grinning, as we head inside.
After washing up in the bathroom, I join my parents and Josh in the club’s restaurant. My father has already prepared a glass of orange juice and my favorite breakfast: pancakes and cheesy scrambled eggs. Although the food looks delicious, I have no appetite. I scan the restaurant, hoping to catch a glimpse of Cassian, but he’s nowhere to be seen. My father and Wesley are deep in discussion about the stock market, with Josh chiming in occasionally.
