Biran looked up at the sky; the moonlight reflected through his pupils was bright, yet there seemed to be eternal darkness deep within. I looked at him to the point of infatuation; I never thought I would be alive to meet someone like Brian. He is different from everyone else. He doesn't like to say clichés; he doesn't know how to talk sweetly; he doesn't know how to behave gently. The most around him were the strong smell of murder and his eyes sharper than knives. But from beginning to end, he was the only one who never bullied me; to be precise, he was the only person who treated me well, except for my parents.

‘Go back to the one about ancient civilisations. ‘I can’t,’ I said, though a laugh rose in my chest. ‘It wasn’t relevant to our investigations.’ ‘Come on, you young whippersnapper, just this once? You’ve not found anything anyway.’ ‘Fine.’ I shut the book with a smack, which made Brian wince. Pulling The History of Ancient Peoples back out of the discarded pile and opening it on my lap, I said, ‘Happy?’ ‘Very.’ He started purring again. I laughed aloud, drawing Cin’s eyes to me and a curious smile to her lips.

“Don’t burn yourself before exams. You need both your brain and your legs this week.” Brian nodded. Exams. He had almost forgotten. --- Brian sat at his desk, textbooks open, laptop glowing faintly in the dim room. Thermodynamics. Fluid mechanics. Circuit integration. He read the same paragraph three times before realizing he hadn’t understood a single word. His phone lay beside the book. He kept glancing at it without meaning to. He told himself he wasn’t waiting for a message. He told himself he didn’t care if Austin texted. He told himself a lot of things that weren’t true.

She put it on, with her sweatpants, then joined him on the bed. "So… what are you reading?" Kira asked him curiously. "It's called The Sigma Protocol by Robert Ludlum," Bryan stated, showing her the book. "Have you read it yet?" "No, I haven't, although the name sounds interesting and unique, like one would want to know more about it." "True!" Bryan agreed with her and ruffled her hair. "What is it about?" Kira asked, snuggling closer and wrapping her arm around his waist.

I already knew where to find it as I had been frequenting the library during the past few days. “Why do you keep getting that book when you can't even read it?” Brian asked as he sat down. “Maybe if you stop distracting me, I might figure out what to do with these symbols,” I said as a matter of fact. To be honest, Brian has been a constant pain in my ass. Still, I couldn't deny the fact that I needed him around. He was the only one who didn't take things too seriously in this pack of overly serious wolves. That made him easy to rely on and relate with.

Brian was introducing himself to the receptionist when she took the words from his mouth, smiling foolishly, “President Brian, how can I help you?” the receptionist asked, already smitten at the sight of Brian. It was a known fact that Brian liked beautiful women so she just had to make herself available. Brian smiled a little. The receptionist was indeed beautiful but with the matter at hand, he did not dare to even entertain the thought, saying indifferently, “I’m here to see Miss Kisha Newton.”

she replied. “My bad! I’m sorry Ari, I didn’t want to come between you both I didn’t know how Mother would feel about that” Brian explained. “Come between us by contributing your quota? I don’t get you” Arianna spoke. Brian smiled and replied “It’s just that I’ve been extra careful” “Extra careful? What’s the need for that?” She inquired. “I wouldn’t want to get into her bad books” he replied. “Get into her bad books by contributing to the issue on the ground Brian?! How do you even think of her?”

Brian went through Viona's piled books in an abrupt way and scattered through the things quite abnormally. Ariana dawdled in her breathing hitched every time she glanced at his back deeply. Her adam apple bobbed up and down uncontrollably as if there was a tingle coming out from her throat. Brian grabbed some essential books and turned around stretching his arms out to pass them over, " Here are those that she would be needed." Ariana's delicate palms reached behind the book pile clumsily in order to grab them from Brian's grip. Out of trepidation, she almost lost her balance and the books were about to fall down until a big palm clutched her slippery hand with an alarming voice,

Brian hijacked the book from her. "Oh my, I've been looking for it, she is so talented" Brian gasped while I and Sarah rolled their eyes at the same time "Look at this art bro, even with a pen it's so detailed," he said showing it to Sean, who isn't so engrossed to it unlike Brian. "But why will she faint after drawing these great masterpieces?" He asked, finally looking up from the book. "That's what you should be asking instead of gushing over the Art" Sean said, taking the book from him.

" I'm seeing numbers and names..." " Um, write those out on a separate book or your iPad, yeah," I instructed. " Write their connection with him, too. We will have to take a look at the lot of them." Brian stretches his hands, cracking his neck. " It's gonna be a long, long day," he mutters. I give him a look, and he winks at me, laughing. ******* I had to pass the whole book to Brian. For the love of Christ, I couldn't bring myself to open the damn book, yet I had risked my life to get to it.
