I glanced toward Doom, and Chris’s gaze followed mine. The smile that had been playing on his lips vanished, replaced by something much darker. Without a word, he pulled a pistol from his jacket and, in one fluid motion, aimed it at Doom’s forehead. Before anyone could react, Chris pulled the trigger. The gunshot was deafening, the sound reverberating through the room. Doom crumpled to the floor, his body hitting the ground and blood dripping around his head area.
