He took one step closer and I backed up until my back hit the bookshelf behind me the wood digging into my spine as I pressed myself against it like I could disappear into the shelves if I tried hard enough. “You should be more careful with palace property,” he said softly his voice smooth and icy as he bent down slowly to pick up one of the fallen books turning it over in his hands like he was inspecting it. “Books are expensive. And fragile. Much like certain other things.” I could not speak. My throat closed up tight and my breathing came in short panicked bursts while my whole body shook harder because I knew what was coming and I knew I could not stop it.

THE TRAITOR’S END The walk to the throne room felt longer than the walk to the balcony. The palace was louder now. I could hear glass breaking in the lower levels and the heavy thud of boots on stone. The air was thick with the smell of old dust and fresh smoke. Demetrius was breathing hard. Each step made him flinch, but he wouldn't stop. He didn't look like a king anymore; he looked like a man who had walked through a fire and was surprised to still be alive.

He gripped my hand and dragged me upstairs with him. The palace stood in ruins, its once grand halls now reduced to rubble and debris. The walls were pockmarked with bullet holes and scorch marks, evidence of the fierce fighting that took place here. The grand staircase, once a symbol of opulence and power, now lied shattered and twisted. The courtyard, once filled with the sounds of laughter and music, was now silent and empty. The gardens, once meticulously tended, were now overgrown and wild. The air was thick with the smell of smoke and decay. It was a haunting reminder of the devastation of the Crescent Moon Pack.

Sadness. I glanced down at the letter still clutched in my hand, the paper fragile and crumpled from my grip. Slowly, I allowed a sliver of lightning to dance along its edges, watching as the parchment caught fire. The flames consumed the letter quickly, reducing it to ash in seconds, and I let the remains fall to the table in a blackened heap. Ashes. Just like everything else in this cursed palace. I stormed out of the throne room, my footsteps heavy and my thoughts darker than the night itself. The halls were quiet, too quiet, and every echo of my boots against the stone reminded me of how alone I truly was about to become.

She leaves immediately. Baara was back in her chambers, staring at the three textbooks, they were so big and she couldn't understand a single word. She takes one of the textbooks as she goes for a stroll around the palace. She attempts to read the book but still couldn't figure it out, she suddenly bumps into someone and her book falls "ouch" "I'm sorry my lady". The gentleman said picking the book from the ground their eyes meet and they immediately point at each other " You!" They both chorused

The palace above us groans faintly, the sound carrying down through the stone like a distant warning. Servants pass us occasionally as we move higher, their faces pale, their eyes hollow. No one speaks. No one makes eye contact. They move like ghosts, drifting through the corridors without purpose, without hope. The palace I remember is gone. This place.... This is something else. It is broken and dying. And at the center of it is....him. The bond pulls harder with every step, no longer a faint thread but a steady, insistent tug in my chest. This way.

BROOK'S POV The part of the palace Theo had moved us to was secure. But it felt like living inside a beautiful prison. The rooms were large and tastefully furnished, filled with expensive furniture, polished wood, and carefully chosen decorations that looked like they belonged in a magazine. Everything was perfect, and yet none of it felt alive. The windows were smaller than the ones in Levi’s quarters, allowing in only narrow strips of sunlight that never seemed to reach far enough into the rooms.

Beatrice's POV I came back to the palace the next morning with a plan half-formed behind my ribs. Protect Callum and find Jin. I was walking past the west corridor when I noticed the array of servants. They were carrying buckets, brooms and rags. My curiosity piqued till I was walking towards Princess Elara's room. I stopped in front of it and gasped. The door hung open on one hinge. The room was destroyed. Bookshelf ripped from the wall and lying face-down across the bed. Books everywhere — spines cracked, pages torn and trampled into the floor. The writing desk overturned, legs snapped off. Ink spreading in dark pools across the stone and the window was smashed.
