I expose his heart and tear it completely out of his chest, gripping it tight. Lotus’s eyes instantly go lifeless, his flesh turning a stark, chalky white, but his detached heart still beats violently against my palm. I stand up slowly, feeling the weight of a thousand eyes on me. I hurl the heart to the floor and crush it beneath my heel.
