I narrowly dodge the bullet as it whizzes past my left paw. Snarling in defiance, I prepare to attack him. Once I disarm him, he’ll be powerless again. With a swift leap, I try to pull Adam to the ground. I succeed, but not without taking a bullet to the chest. The pain is excruciating as the silver bullet lodges into my ribcage, dangerously close to my heart. A tortured howl escapes me as I crash down, the forest spinning around me.
