I walked toward the soldiers. They raised their weapons. Fired again. Silver bullets. The kind that killed werewolves. The kind that should have killed me. They bounced off my chest like pebbles. I grabbed the first soldier by the throat—not to choke, but to lift. He screamed. His comrades fired at me, but the bullets ricocheted, striking their own men. Bodies fell. I ripped his heart out. The organ was warm in my hand, still beating. I looked at it. At him. At the blood pouring from the hole in his chest.

He’s holding it right up to my skull, finger on the trigger-- Chris crashes into him in a blur of speed, and the shot skims my arm. I hardly feel that sizzling new graze of damage. My shaking hands are far too busy clawing at my chest, trying to dig out that bullet smoldering inside the bloody pit where the shattered remains of my heart sit spasming, smoking... I keel over, shuddering –

The sound was different from the panicked shots echoing through the hall—a sharp, precise crack that seemed to swallow all other noise. The specialized bullet, its tip gleaming with Pyre's corrupted clover extract, took her high in the chest, just below the collarbone. There was no dramatic spray of blood. Instead, a strange, silvery light bloomed at the point of impact, spreading under her skin like vicious frost cracking across a dark windowpane.

“Or kept me? You… never let me go, Dante.” Silence swelled, choking. I busied myself with the instruments, pulling the forceps from their tray, their metal dull, their hinge squealing in protest. “I need to get the bullet out.” “You always… go straight for the heart.” His breath hitched with a weak laugh. I froze, the words sinking like poison and honey at once. His heart. My hand trembled on the forceps. I crushed the weakness with a steady breath, kneeling closer. “This will hurt,” I warned.

Even if I had superpowers I still wouldn't be able to stop the bullet from getting to her. "Kara No!" I yelled hoping she'd hear me. Kara had stepped on the ledge just about when the bullet hit her in the heart. For a second, I just stood there looking horrid, I couldn't believe my eyes. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" My heart began beating out of my ears, I most certainly just lost my mind. I charged towards Johnny like a mad man, Johnny on the other hand seemed dejected as his revolver fell from his hands.

“ Such a pretty little girl. Look at you, you are all grown. Who would have thought that unripe fruit would ripen so fast? Ava...” He took the first step in and hesitated for a bit. He was unsure but he sensed something. Someone was here, someone who wasn't part of his team. “ RUN!” Bullet ordered but he was too late. The bullet pierced his heart as he staggered backwards with blood spilled all over the place even on Ava's hair. She let out a sound of air as she waited for the worst to happen. Was this how she was going to die? In the hands of unknown men?

I said shaking my head. “We are happy that you are fine, Jiya.” She said and before I could say anything, the door opened. “He is out of danger. The bullet hit him near the rib cage, but if it had hit him near the heart, then it would have been very hard to save his life.” Doctor said, and they thanked him. The bullet was aimed at my heart, and as he is taller than me, he got hit even below that. I sighed and sat back in the chair.

I asked again, my voice trembling now. The nurse looked at me, her expression grim. “The bullet is lodged dangerously close to his heart, It's a miracle he is still conscious” she said, grabbing the receiver. “If it’s not removed immediately—and very carefully—it could kill him.” What? My heart sank. And for a second—it was like my soul left my body. Everything around me moved… but I didn’t. The nurse’s voice became a faint echo in the background.

The second one responded, “This tactic in the dark… It’s Uno’s signature.” “Uno? I thought no one has ever seen him?” a rookie, I assume, asks. “Wrong,” I decided to cut off their conversation, feeling the high of the night through my veins. “It’s not that no one sees me.” They looked up in my direction with eyes wide in fear. I pointed my gun at them and said, “It’s that no one lives to tell once they see me.” With a pull of the trigger, I shot the three of them… one bullet piercing their skulls in a straight line.

He let go of the steering wheel, "Doesn't matter..." After a loud collision, he plunged into darkness. When his spirit left his body, he thought he saw a familiar figure. (The End)
