I bet his wolf is just the same.” I sighed in frustration, opening Warren’s car door with more force than necessary and sliding into the passenger seat. He raised an eyebrow at me.

It was getting dark and from the looks of it, we were all going to be up late today. After a while Cassie stood up and headed to the door. "Where are you going?" asked Jasper. "No where. She slowly closed her eyes. A rustling came from the other side of the bed and her eyes sprang open. Shobek sat up sleepily, and slowly, Kasey turned to look at him. He didn't even glance at her as he suddenly stripped off his shirt and threw it to the side. Kasey's face instantly grew dark red as she stared wide-eyed at the sexy body before her. But he acted as if she didn't exist as he laid back down. Kasey stared at his sharp toned back before quickly turning back away. Forgive me father for my eyes have led me to sin.

My body seizes as I try to mutter the word Help, but darkness swallows me whole. *** I’m at the borders, near the woods. Again. Heavy footsteps pound against the earth. Someone’s running, fast, chased. Cassie. It’s Cassie. Her blonde hair streams behind her, her face twisted in terror. She glances over her shoulder and screams almost like a banshee. A beast. Right behind her. My body shudders violently, every nerve screaming. I try to call her name, but no sound leaves my lips. The beast lunges, claws slashing through the air. They catch Cassie’s shoulder, tearing deep. Blood gushes across her back. She cries out, stumbling forward, blood blooming across her back.

Cassie. I hit speaker and leaned back. “You better have good news.” “Depends on what you call good,” Cassie said, chewing gum loud enough to make me want to scream. “Did it work yet?” “Not yet. I haven’t gotten him alone long enough to slip it in his drink.” “Well, then what the hell are you waiting for?” “I don’t know!” My voice came out sharper than I meant. “Every time I show up, that Tessa is glued to his side. Like a damn shadow.”

I already wanted her with me. By the time Sawyer’s wolf stopped I was so exhausted I nearly fell off. My entire body ached and hurt, I’d been using literally every muscle to hold on. “You all right? Do I need to inspect you,” I heard, blinking up at Kasie. I practically willed myself to stand and threw myself at her. I’d never been so happy to see a welcoming familiar face. Someone who wasn’t angry with me at that. “There, there it’s okay. The threat is already gone. Just a few inbred fucks,” she said, as she produced a giant stick of beef jerky and offered it to me. I shook my head and she chomped a piece off.

Cassie was awakened by the sound of the alarm that she had set on her phone the previous night. She tried to get up from bed only to discover that she couldn’t even feel most of the right side of her body. The little rays of sunlight that were able to penetrate through the thick, dark curtains barely illuminated the room but even still, Cassie was able to tell that she couldn’t feel the right side of her face because Aaron was lying on her arm. Slowly, she inched her way out from underneath him, pausing every time he stirred. Once she was free, she grabbed her phone, snuck out of her room and shut the door behind her.
