Elion had already seen it. His eyes scanned the glowing symbols beneath Lazarus, watching the way their light pulsed in time with the shadows’ movements. “They’re feeding on his anchor. Break the circle and the beasts fall!”
Caelan moved beside him, raising his sword. “Then I’ll carve a path.”
Before Soo-ah could protest, Caelan charged straight into the mass of shadows. The beasts turned, their claws slashing down. He ducked, rolled, then struck upward, his blade cutting into one beast’s chest. It howled, dissolving halfway before reforming again.
