Chapter 48 Elena POV The corridors still thrummed with the echo of Kael’s boots. He’d stormed past so fast the torches along the wall rattled in their brackets, the guards shrinking against the stone as though afraid his fury might burn them alive. I’d seen him like that before, a storm wearing the skin of a man. But this time? This time his eyes hadn’t been fixed ahead. They’d been searching Desperately Chasing Aria. The little mouse had run from him again, and he had followed like she held the reins to a beast that no one else in this damned kingdom could tame.

On her. “Nora!” Caelum roared, throwing himself in front of the first wave. His claws shredded the net mid-air, but smoke hissed where the strands kissed his skin. He howled, the sound shaking stone. Lucien blurred forward, fangs snapping at a second squad, shadows lashing like whips. He tore two men down before their nets tangled his arms, dragging him low. He snarled, but even his strength faltered under the alloy’s bite.

“I definitely wouldn’t want to share a mate with Brad either. That little shit can be annoying as hell.” Caelan snorted. “Yeah,” he said, nodding once. “I don’t even know him that well and I’ve already picked up on that.” We stood there for another moment, both watching as things began to settle. “Alright,” I said finally. “So who are they talking to?” Caelan shifted his focus first, eyes narrowing slightly as he tracked Wallace. “That’s June,” he said. “She’s our healer.” I followed his gaze, taking her in properly for the first time.

“You look too gorgeous to be standing here, would you do me the honor of dancing with me?” Annelise blushed at the request, she shrugged not knowing what to say back, she subtly looked around in search for Cassius, she wasn’t sure how he would react, he’s been out for over 15 minutes and she wasn’t sure when the ball would be over. “I… well… I guess we could dance.” She replied as Sloan took her hand, as he kissed the back of her palm Cassius walked in, he stood at the entrance unmoving, his heart pounding with the kind of rage he only felt during the full moon.

I needed it more than breath. The chalice pulsed, swelling with stolen lunar light. Almost… almost… Elara slumped, coughing up more blood, i saw her eyes roll back. I was sure Cassidan saw it too, because almost immediately, something in him snapped. I blocked his strike, but the next came too fast. Cassidan slammed me against the wall, his fist cracking against my jaw. Kael’s roar filled the chamber—and then bones could be heard grinding, reshaping. Kael shifted into his wolf.

Strong. Alive. Reborn. Lightning flashed. Violet screamed, “HE IS FULLY IN HIS FORM!” Marek bared his teeth. “DRAVENS—ON MY LEAD!” Kael stepped forward first. “This ends tonight.” Khaenat tilted his head, his voice now deeper, mummified and demonic, dripping with malice. “BACK. TO. HELL, ALPHA.” They launched at each other with a thunderous crash. --- THE FIRST CLASH

Finally, they arrived at their floor and the doors opened. They walked the short corridor to their respective doors. Vespera had reached her door but then she stopped and turned. Ezekiel had his key card out but noticing that the figure wasn't moving, he looked at her. "Is everything alright?" were his first words to her for the evening. Vespera smiled and walked back to meet him. "Yes, everything is alright. There is an industry event happening on Friday." She informed him. "The Vine Entertainment showcase. I have two seats."

Caelum counted about thirty of them and though he could easily take them down, he was more concerned about what Noah might do to Astraea should he miss to keep an eye on her. “You see… I invited you here for a show. I believe my men already told you before you killed them.” “Fuck you, Noah,” Caelum spat. “Fuck you and your fucked-up games.” Caelum’s eyes darkened as he channeled Chase’s energy. Power surged through him, his canines elongated, and his nails lengthened to form razor-sharp claws. “LAST TIME!” he roared, in a deep terrifying voice that sounded more like a beast than a human.
