Chapter 43: The Call to Arms POV: Kael War never announced itself with horns or banners. It arrived quietly, on the wind, in the way the borders stopped breathing. Kael felt it before the messengers came. The bond between Alpha and land had always spoken to him in subtle ways, a tension beneath the skin, a wrongness in the silence of the trees. This morning, Mooncrest’s forest stood unnaturally still. No birds. No distant howls. Even the patrol wolves moved with unease, glancing over their shoulders as if something unseen tracked them.

Lysander POV Fuck, summer solstice seemed like a lifetime away. It was the beginning of March. We hadn’t even hit the spring equinox yet, and there were about twelve weeks between the equinox and solstice. Forever. I paced the office and did my best to ignore Xavier’S and Kaelen’S eyes boring into my skin. “We could take them out now,” I mumbled. Of course, we’d need to find VEXX and his cronies first.

A low, seismic growl rippled across the land. The wind died. Even the flames stilled. Shadows twisted in place—waiting. Even Henry stilled. His corrupted form stiffened. Ears twitching toward the smoke. The ash parted. And something older than the gods began to move. “Not until I make you destroy the one you cherish most, with your own hands,” Cael’s words rippled through the air like a cold, dark wave. “You know what this means, Xavier. You know what he must do...” His eyes glinted with malice, as if daring me to comprehend the fate I had just sealed".

“Better than.” Maeron lifted his gaze, finally. His eyes, usually unreadable, flickered with something too sharp to be called relief. “Go on.” Kael stepped closer, pulling a folded printout from his jacket. He laid it on the desk — a message log from Eamon, timestamped and marked with data points from Lexara’s first full day inside Seraphine’s territory. “She mapped the perimeter before sunrise. Resonance is stabilizing the outer ring already. She ran the land, and it didn’t push her out.”

The dozen or so disciples emitted potent auras of Caelum Acmeans. After emerging out of the formation, they quickly left the area. James slightly hesitated but chose to follow them. The group of Caelum Acmeans left the universe and headed to a relatively weaker universe. Then, they secretly set up a formation outside a planet. After activating the formation, the living beings inhabiting the planet were instantly killed, and their energy was absorbed into a strange bottle.

I'm not nothing. I'm Celeste Isabella Moretti, and I'm about to make everyone who ever hurt me pay. "Okay," I say, squaring my shoulders. "What time should I be there?" "The event starts at seven. Be there by six-thirty. I'll have a car pick you up." "Won't the Ashfords notice if I leave?" Vincent's smile turns mischievous. "Tell them you have a headache. Or better yet, don't tell them anything. It's not like they pay attention to you anyway."

Too watchful. Kael opened the pouch and removed a folded piece of parchment sealed with dark wax. No crest. No name. He broke the seal. His eyes moved across the page before his expression hardened. "What does it say?" Grey asked. Kael handed me the note. The message was painfully short: The next phase begins on the full moon. Prepare the wolves. My stomach dropped. "The full moon is in three days," Grey said quietly. The paper suddenly felt heavier in my hands. "W is planning something big."

He was something more. One of the Sentinels stepped forward, their mask glinting under the muted light of the storm. Their voice was hollow, void of any emotion. "You’re trespassing in the lands of the Moon Temple, traitor. Surrender yourself and the Mute Wolf. You’re both wanted for crimes against the Goddess." Caelum’s expression hardened. He didn’t answer immediately, his gaze scanning the group. There was no fear in his eyes. Just resolve. His hand tightened around the hilt of his sword.

He was perfectly symmetrical, perfectly poised, and utterly Empty. "Greetings, Moon-Apex," the stranger said. His voice wasn't a roar or a hiss. It was a Perfectly Synthesized Resonance, a frequency so clear it made my teeth ache. "My name is Caelum. I am the Secondary Protocol for Asset Recovery." I stepped forward, my fur bristling, the "Too Much" energy flaring in a protective arc around me. "The High Council is dead, Caelum. Valerius is ash. You have no contract here."
