“I’ll go get us some coffee.” Hannah shook her head disapprovingly as Alpha Matthew said he’ll grab a coffee for us. “Breastfeeding mothers shouldn’t consume caffeine, it could harm their breast milk,” she reminded him. Alpha Matthew smacked his forehead with his palm. “I’m sorry, I forgot about that. Mark, do you know where I can get some avocado juice with almonds?” Mark nodded. “I do. I’ll go get it for you.” Alpha Matthew thanked Mark before he left. I felt my anxiety level rising again, but Alpha Matthew sat down next to me and put his hand on my shoulder, comforting me.

After the afternoon classes, I quickly pedal back to the apartment. I take a warm shower and then have a snack. I just eat the leftover cake from Mom's birthday and have two cups of two creamed coffee. I'm about to make another cup, but I force myself not to. It would be bad for me to constantly chug caffeine. I take a night off the restaurant because of the event happening right now

How did I get here? I struggled to recollect what happened in Duncan’s office but the more I tried to remember, the more my head ached. “The only explanation that can be given is overstimulation and that would probably explain why she passed out. Cassidy was nervous the whole morning, she was tired from studying and only got three hours of sleep. Her veins were infused by coffee. A cup of coffee and cream when she woke up, two shots of espresso at eight, a latte by eleven, and now a large ice americano just minutes before two. Any other person would be jittery by now, but Cassidy was used to coffee, she might not bounce around from the caffeine but her eyes and brain were alert for the next couple of hours.

She pressed the lancet against my finger and she collected the first drop of blood. "Seriously, you don't want to drink the coffee that I made for you?" I asked. "I had one before I came here," she replied. She pushed the plunger to activate and we must wait for 20 minutes for the Anemia Meter to complete. But 20 minutes was too long. She was taking glimpses at the coffee. "Are you sure it is good?"

The nurse didn't need to ask who the 'he' was since she was there when the woman made it clear to everyone that she and her daughter's father were not married. "No, he can't take coffee. Caffeine is a diuretic and causes loss of fluids from the body. In fact he should avoid all caffeinated drinks; colas, coffees, etc, for the next eight to ten hours after donating because he needs to hydrate his body after the process is done. And you don't even need to worry yourself about what he could take, the hospital would take care of it. But if you would rather get the refreshments yourself then get him water and juice and also some high sugar snacks."

Since they were done, I was quick to pull my shirt down and put my leggings back where I felt covered. “I’ll leave this here.” The doctor set everyone on the coffee table and looked at me. “Get as much rest as you can. Don’t push yourself too hard.” He looked at my clothes. “Keep the workouts light. We might be over killing it, but with the blood bond and twins…. I’m not taking risks with the future of this pack.”

It was only a few inches away. My fist was only a few inches away from meeting Dante's face when something clicked. It was a trance. I was sure about that, or rather I was hallucinating, and it was funny because I had been sober for days, I hadn't even had a beer, so the hallucination must've been caused by the coffee. There was no other explanation. It was either that the coffee had been drugged, or that it had way too much caffeine, the type that could seep into your skin and find it's way into your bloodstream, and flow up to the heart, where it will move to the brain through the aorta and cause mental destruction.

“That building has my last name on it.” A grin spread on Azure’s face, his gray eyes sparkled, “I’m optimistic it won’t be that way for long,” he chirped. “Would you like any treats?” he nodded towards his desk, where a large tray of Danishes sat. “I also had both decaf and regular coffee delivered,” he stood behind his desk, outstretching two options towards me. “I read caffeine could adversely affect the baby, but after contacting the doctor, they assured me that small amounts would be fine.” Azure seemed to be rambling, but I reached for the decaf while fighting a grin. He’d gone to the trouble of not only researching but calling a doctor, “Thank you.”
