He's even suggested for a midwife to live with us for a couple of weeks, just to make sure someone is there during birth. The doc has warned us that this birth will probably be just as fast. Each passing day forged an unbreakable bond, shielding her from the relentless march of time and the crushing weight of her solitude. She knew she had to perform her duty. “We should let the king know about it soon before those gossipy maids do it first,” the midwife said to Termla. “Bring the child and walk slowly behind me.” Termla did as she was told. The midwife went before her to the passage where the maids had gathered with their heads together whispering. When they saw her they immediately stopped talking and disbanded with their heads bowed. The midwife looked at them with disgust. “You have better things to do than to stand around gossiping. Go and clean your queen, clean the room, air it and wash all the towels!”

He just severed a blood vessel. I've already mobilized the entire hospital's blood bank, but we still can't locate the bleeding point. You're the best. Please, I'm begging you. I whisper. “Please. I need Elaine.” She drifts off to sleep with her hands still tangled in my hair. I manage to break free and slip out of the bedroom door. The doctor is waiting for me on the other side. “I need to speak with you.” “What?” I growl. “I know she wants the midwife witch, but you can’t let her. The babies will have to be born via c-section,” he explains. “What the hell is that?”

The midwife immediately sent one of her handmaids to call the alpha. She held the edges of the bed to control the overwhelming pain . Then she heard noises . ' Where is she ? ' Her husband and mate shouted . He was scared . She has never seen him so scared . He came into the room and took her hands . ' Why didn't you call me immediately ? ' he whispered his voice rasp . ' I didn't want to disturb you . ' she replied my voice betraying the amount of pain she was feeling . ' Call for an healer ' he shouted to one of the midwives .

I seriously cannot handle this shit alone. “Number... In … my phone.... Midwife … please.” Emma pants through her words, eyes coming to mine, sheer pain, maybe panic, reflecting back at me. “So .... Fast” She struggles to talk, her body still tightly coiled, and we’re moving nowhere like this.

Trying to make conversation, he asked, "Are you here for work or school?" Chewing my pastry, I decided to tease him. "I’m running away from a wedding." He choked slightly, staring at me in absolute disbelief. I couldn't help but laugh out loud. He gave me a thumbs-up. "Brave move. High risk, high reward." I grinned and returned the gesture. "You’re not so bad yourself." Just as the words left my mouth, a raspy voice called out from a short distance away. "Grace." Hearing that familiar voice froze me in place. I looked up to see Daniel standing a few paces away.

" During the birthing process of the woman you are about to assist, I'll be waiting by the window at the rear of the room. Simply pass me over to the firstborn pup. Don't worry, my scent won't alert anyone." The midwife is shocked by the audacious offer, but as she prepares to decline it, she sees the hardness in the other woman's eyes. An evil glow shoots out, causing her legs to falter. “This is your only option for survival, at least if you value your life,” it sounded croaky, like a witch. The midwife grabs the suitcase and bobs her head in terror. “Above all, don't try any stunts. I am well-equipped to handle in case you act foolishly and take unnecessary risks."
